Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, and Community Members,
We are excited to establish the first School Advisory Council (SAC) for the SSRCE Alternate and Adult Education Programs this school year.
The SAC will bring together parents/guardians, students, staff, community members, and the principal to support student success and strengthen our programs. Members will have an opportunity to share their perspectives and provide advice and feedback on student achievement, school programs, communication, and the overall well-being of our school communities.
Our SAC will represent all of our programs, including Verge House Transition Program, Bridgewater Adult High School, Queens Alternate and Adult High School, Mahone Bay Alternate School, and the newly relocated Middle Level Alternate Program in Hebbville, which was previously part of Mahone Bay Alternate School.
The SAC will meet regularly throughout the school year, with a minimum of four meetings annually. Meetings will be open to the public.
We are currently seeking:
3 Parent/Guardian Representatives
3 Community Representatives
2 Student Representatives — one student in Grades 7–12 and one Adult High School student
Staff representatives will be selected by staff at each site.
Parent/guardian representatives must have a child currently registered in one of our Alternate and Adult Education Programs. Community representatives must live in or provide a service within a community served by our programs and cannot be an AAEP employee or have a child currently registered in an AAEP program.
Parent/guardian and community representatives serve two-year terms, while student representatives serve a one-year term.
We encourage parents/guardians, students, and community members from across the communities and programs we serve to consider putting their names forward.
Interested in joining us?
If you are interested in joining our SAC, please contact Principal Tanya Veinotte Frowd at [email protected] by Monday, October 5, 2026, and indicate whether you are interested in serving as a parent/guardian, community, or student representative.
If an election is required, information about the election process will be shared that week.
Our first SAC meeting will be held virtually on Wednesday, October 21, from 6:00–7:30 p.m. At this first meeting, the council will select its Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary and establish a regular meeting schedule for the remainder of the school year.
Serving on the SAC is a meaningful opportunity to share your perspective, provide advice to the principal, and help shape the future of our programs in support of student success and well-being.
We look forward to bringing together voices from across our Alternate and Adult Education Programs!
Warmly,
Tanya Veinotte Frowd
