This Te Wiki o te Reo Māori, we celebrate the beauty, strength and importance of te reo Māori and its place in New Zealand.

At Whakarato Whānau Charitable Trust – Pregnancy & Parenting, we are proud to support whānau and recognise the importance of whānau, whakapapa, connection and belonging in the journey of pregnancy and parenting.

Te reo Māori is more than words — it carries our stories, our history, our identity and our connection to one another.

This week, we encourage everyone to give te reo a go. Whether it’s a simple kia ora whānau, ka pai tamariki or mōrena pepi.

📚💛 A huge thank you to the Stratford Lions Club for their generous donation to Whakarato Whānau Charitable Trust-Pregnancy & Parenting.

Thanks to your support, we were able to purchase a wonderful selection of books to share with the whānau we work alongside. Reading with tamariki helps build language, literacy, imagination, and connection, creating special moments for families to enjoy together.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to Margie and the team at Paper Plus Stratford Stratford for their incredible support and generosity. Their fantastic discount allowed us to purchase even more books, ensuring that more children and families can benefit from these valuable resources.

Together, your support is helping put quality books into the hands of tamariki throughout our community and fostering a lifelong love of reading and learning.

We had a lovely surprise visit yesterday from some of the wonderful ladies from the New Plymouth Central Women's Institute.

They brought with them a generous donation of beautifully knitted items to help keep whānau warm this winter. We are incredibly grateful for their kindness, time, and dedication in creating these much-needed items for the families we support. Thank you for making a difference in our community.
