Community band (Fairborn, Ohio) est. 1996, Gary C. Johnson, director (937-672-9470). Rehearsals-Thursdays-7:15 PM, Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, Fairborn.

Also, biannual collaborations with A.C. Strings to form the Fairborn Regional Orchestra. The Fairborn Civic Band was established in 1996 with Gary C. Johnson recruited as the band's director. 30 years later, the band has developed as a concert band with musicians from Fairborn and neighboring communities. These dedicated, talented musicians provide music for numerous area community/civic function

s, enshrinements, festivals, and concerts. Twelve years ago (2014), Fairborn Civic Band collaborated with Fairborn AC Strings, comprised primarily of the violin studios of Mrs. Kathy Johnston and Dr. Phillipa Burgess, to form the Fairborn Regional Orchestra (FRO), an incredible boast for our Fairborn community. The FRO collaboration continues with biannual concerts (summer and Christmas) and Fairborn Sweet Corn Festival performances. New wind, percussion and string players are always welcome. Rehearsals are held throughout the year on Thursday evenings at Abiding Christ Lutheran Church in Fairborn. Interested in playing with the band or booking the band for your civic or community event? We're rolling out the much anticipated summer 2026 A.C. Strings/Fairborn Regional Orchestra - FRO program. Under the co-direction of Dr. Phillipa Burgess, Mr. Gary C. Johnson, and Miss Mary Jo Johnson, this opportunity is open to all ages and levels of string players. Unique to this experience is the combining of the A.C. Weekly rehearsals for the Fairborn Civic Band, established in 1996, with this our 30th year under the direction of Mr. Gary C. Johnson, will resume tomorrow evening, THURSDAY, MARCH 5, at 7:15 PM, Abiding Christ Lutheran Church, 326 E. Dayton Yellow Springs Rd.

Throughout the year, it is truly a delight to welcome active college students who are pursuing various degrees into the Fairborn Civic Band, Fairborn Regional Orchestra, and A.C. Strings. Therefore, we recognize universities recently represented by young adult musicians participating in our community music programs and performances:

*Baldwin Wallace University
* Bowling Green State University
*Cedarville University
* Mount St. Joseph University
*Sinclair Community College
*University of Dayton
*Wright State University

Our strings programs will resume in the very early summer so stay tuned here for registration information on those string program rehearsals and performances to be released early spring.

THE FAIRBORN CIVIC BAND MISSION STATEMENT: To joyfully and enthusiastically project pride, foster civic unity, and promote the performing arts in the Fairborn community and in surrounding areas and in so doing, enhance the reputation of Fairborn in the Dayton region by serving and entertaining her citizens at ceremonies, celebrations, and community events.

As your Fairborn Civic Band enters fully into our 30th year under the direction of Mr. Gary C. Johnson, it is our hope for a happy, healthy, and musical New Year 2026 to all!
