Organized by Sherry Algredo, a dedicated mom and community leader who also serves as the Chair of Community Board 9, the annual Autism Awareness Walk has grown exponentially over the years. We were proud to have joined for the first time as an organization this year. There are so many stigmas around autism even though so many families in our community are directly impacted by it. Here’s to more support for those families and less judgement towards those who have autism. We are grateful to Sherry for her commitment to this cause and all she does to empower parents and families in our neighborhood.

And more talent featured in another visual arts exhibition at curated by our very own events coordinator Raqeebah Zaman! Current, Currents l: Im-Migration Stories was presented during Indian Arrival | Indentured Survival Month and centered experiences of navigating the immigration system as Indo-Caribbean identifying peoples in the United States. It also underscored the ways in which political currents impact our lived experiences on a day to day basis. Among the featured artists were our outreach coordinator Sacha Sulaiman and our office manager Debora Chaitlall! Check out their incredible work.
