Call for participants!

The project aims to empower 25 youth workers, youth leaders, activists, educators, and other youth multipliers with the skills, knowledge, competencies, and tools in nonviolent conflict transformation, intercultural understanding, and combating othering in order to promote a culture of peace in their local communities.

We are looking for 7-8 volunteers interested and experienced in working with children, to support our nature summer camp in August.

📍 The past weekend was all about the regional workshop 🌍

Young people from Ranilug, Vevčan and Kolašin gathered in Štrpce/Shtërpcë , at the foot of Mount Šar/Sharri ⛰️, with the aim of acquiring new, but also exchanging existing knowledge and experiences gained during the preparation of national environmental initiatives aimed at solving problems related to river protection 💧

Through carefully designed thematic sessions and field work, applying methods of informal education, experiential learning, mentoring and group work 📚, participants developed their analytical and practical skills, necessary to understand and solve the challenges associated with river pollution and ecosystem distruction.

In addition to the formal part of the program, the workshop provided an opportunity for participants to get to know each other better, exchange experiences and present their cultural heritage. 🤝 Through socializing, playing and having fun, they further strengthened their mutual ties and built friendships that will continue even after the end of the project 🌱

Throwback to the end of April, when GAIA hosted an ESC volunteering team working together on water management! ☀

We continued to work on soil improvement and water retention, in order to slow down and sink more water in the land. Beside improving the drainage system, composting and gardening, the team also started working on the reedbed system to purify water! 🪱🐜
This ESC team is organized in collaboration with Roter Baum Berlin.

We took part in event!

On 18th of May, youngsters discovered a path along the stream in our village. During the walk, we discussed the topic of water, biodiversity and ecosystems. We made an observation of sounds, and spent time in silence while drawing what we heard.
Throughout the walk, we were observing the local flora and fauna, and collected trash found along the way.
This day was a moment to reconnect with nature and pay respect to the rivers in our communities!✨

We participated in this event with our Youth Exchange project, organized in collaboration with Kmetija Veles and GAIA, through Erasmus+ programme and supported by MOVIT .

Last week we hosted an inspiring Youth Exchange focused on soil and water through permaculture design!

This topic is GAIAs focus for the upcoming period, in order to mitigate risks posed by climate change.
Our theoretical learning included sessions on climate change, introduction to permaculture, environmental law and nature protection… Participants were sharing skills, getting to know the local nature and reflecting on the state of climate change and resource management in their countries.
Practical hands-on activities were included for gaining experience, and we worked on soil improvements through composting and no-till gardening, making reed bed for greywater purification, designing and making a pond for water retention.

This project was organized in collaboration with and GAIA, through Erasmus+ programme and supported by MOVIT.
