On 25 May, SCAAK marked its 25th anniversary with a distinguished International Conference “Advancing the Profession: From Foundation to Transformation.” The event brought together national leaders, international professional organizations, institutional partners, academia, the private sector, and members of the profession to celebrate a quarter century of dedication to transparency, integrity, professional excellence, and public trust.
The conference opened with welcoming remarks by Ms. Fitore Neziri, President of SCAAK, followed by the official opening ceremony and remarks from distinguished institutional guests, including Ms. Mimoza Kusari, Minister of Industry, Entrepreneurship and Trade, Ms. Vlora Spanca, Auditor General of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Ahmet Ismaili, Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo, and Mr. Mentor Hyseni, General Director of the Tax Administration of Kosovo.
A key moment of the day was the keynote address by Mr. Lee White, CEO of IFAC, who brought an international perspective on the transformation of the accountancy profession. His message emphasized the importance of ethics, public trust, innovation, sustainability, and the continued relevance of the profession in a rapidly changing global environment.
The conference was further enriched by greetings from international professional organizations, including Mr. Salvador Marín, President of EFAA and Mr. Nazmi Pllana, President of FCM, highlighting SCAAK’s strong international partnerships and its active role within the wider European and global professional community.
The programme continued with remarks from Ms. Teuta Ukshini Aliu, Executive Director of SCAAK, and Ms. Ardiana Bunjaku, Honorary Member, who reflected on SCAAK’s institutional journey, the contribution of its members, and the values that have shaped the profession over the past 25 years.
One of the central parts of the conference was the high-level panel discussion titled “The Future of the Accounting Profession: Technology, Talent and Transformation,” moderated by Ms. Teuta Ukshini Aliu. The panel brought together regional and local leaders, including Ms. Vesna Prentoska, President of IACA – Macedonia, Mr. Artan Xhiani, President of IEKA – Albania, Ms. Anastasija Boljević, Secretary General of ISRCG – Montenegro, Ms. Arta Limani-Beqiri, Partner, Audit & Assurance at Deloitte Kosova, Ms. Vlora Prenaj, Vice-Dean for Scientific Research and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Economics, University of Prishtina, and Mr. Besnik Vasolli, Executive Director of the German-Kosovar Chamber of Commerce.
Together, they discussed how technology, artificial intelligence, talent development, professional education, and institutional transformation are shaping the future of the accounting and auditing profession.
Following the panel, Mr. Pascal Frèrejacque, Senior Expert at the World Bank Centre for Financial Reporting Reform, presented the long-standing cooperation between CFRR and SCAAK, highlighting 18 years of partnership for shared growth and jobs.
The conference concluded with a Continuing Professional Education session on “Data Analytics in the Accounting Profession,” delivered by Ms. Zana Tabaku, Creator of the BESA AI Platform, emphasizing the growing importance of digital skills, data analytics, and artificial intelligence for the next generation of accounting and auditing professionals.
More than a celebration, the conference held on 25 May was a moment of reflection, recognition, and renewed commitment. It honored SCAAK’s journey from its foundations and reaffirmed its role in leading the profession toward transformation.
