🍕 From his family’s pizzeria counter to a billion-dollar tech company.

Meet your DOKU.TECH 2026 keynote speaker: Ilir Sela Ilir , Founder & CEO of Slice .

Born to an Albanian family in North Macedonia and raised in Staten Island, Ilir grew up helping in his family’s New York pizzerias. He saw local shops losing ground to the big chains, and decided to build the technology to help them fight back.

Today, Slice is the largest pizzeria network in the U.S.:
📍 Active in all 50 states
🍕 15,000+ independent pizzerias
💰 Over $2 billion in earnings generated for local shop owners

And this November, for the first time ever, Ilir is coming to Kosovo to tell his story in person.

The Future is Calling. Be in the room when he answers. 📞

We were honored to welcome Mr. Stephen O'Malley, UN Development Coordinator in Kosovo UN Kosovo Team, and Shpend Qamili, Communication and Outreach Officer, to The Foundation House offices in Prishtina.

This high-level visit gave us the opportunity to closely present our impact over the years, the programs, the young people we've reached, and the lasting change we've built together with our partners and communities across Kosovo.

Our conversation centered on strategic cooperation between our two organizations, and on the shared priorities that bring us to the same table: human capital development, youth empowerment, inclusive economic growth, and sustainable development for Kosovo.

We remain fully committed to working together with the UN Kosovo Team toward a future where every young person has the skills, opportunity, and confidence to shape it.

Last week, we successfully completed our 4-day Capacity Building Workshop on Child Rights, Digital Safety, and Monitoring Tools at Qendra e Karrierës - SHMLE "Kadri Kusari" Gjakovë 📍

Together with the pupils, we explored children’s rights, participation, digital safety, and practical ways for young people to make their voices heard.

A great first step in empowering children to better understand, protect, and advocate for their rights. 💻🙌

This project is implemented by The Foundation House within the framework of the Civil Society Strengthening project, in partnership with Save the Children Kosova/o and financed by the Sida - Styrelsen för Internationellt Utvecklingssamarbete .

Our Executive Director, Abetare Gojani, joined the panel “Shaping the Future: Technology, Innovation & Resilient Societies” at the Jahjaga Foundation’s international forum “Partnership for Change: Women Transforming Systems - Advancing the Prishtina Principles 2026–2035.”

Alongside women leaders from technology, cybersecurity, finance, innovation and public life, Abetare brought to the discussion the perspective that guides much of our work at The Foundation House: access to technology alone does not create opportunity.

As technology and AI transform our economies and societies, inclusion must move at the same pace. This means going beyond training and ensuring that young people, particularly girls and young women, have real pathways into employment, entrepreneurship, leadership and decision-making.

Our experience shows what becomes possible when those connections are intentionally built. By bringing companies directly into the process, 45% of the young women who applied through one of our initiatives secured jobs or internships.

For us, this is what meaningful digital inclusion looks like: not simply teaching people how to use technology, but creating the conditions for them to participate in shaping, building and benefiting from the future it creates.

It also reflects the role we believe civil society must increasingly play, connecting young people, institutions, the private sector and international partners, and turning skills into opportunity and innovation into tangible impact.

We are proud that The Foundation House was part of a platform carrying forward the Prishtina Principles and contributing to the conversation about the systems we want to build for the next generation.

Our sincere appreciation to President Atifete Jahjaga and the Jahjaga Foundation for bringing together voices from across sectors and countries, and for continuing to place women’s leadership at the heart of the conversations shaping our future.

The future of technology should not only be accessible. It should be inclusive, equitable, and shaped by the people it is meant to serve.
