Stronger project management helps us deliver better results for children. ❤️

Our team came together for a three-day PRIME refresher training, strengthening the skills we use to plan, implement and monitor our projects through to completion.

Through practical group exercises, we explored how clear responsibilities and coordinated teamwork help us work more effectively. We also focused on using data to track progress, respond to challenges and keep our programmes focused on their intended results.

Behind this learning is our commitment to children and families across Kosovo. Strengthening how we manage our projects helps us use resources responsibly and deliver programmes that better respond to their needs.

Save the Children Kosova/o has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministria për Punë, Familje dhe Vlerat e Luftës Çlirimtare to strengthen cooperation in advancing the well-being of children and families, improving social and family services, and promoting social inclusion.

Through this collaboration, the parties will work together to strengthen child protection, prevent violence, promote positive parenting, and build professional capacities across social services.

The partnership will also support vocational training and employment opportunities for vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities, while ensuring that children, families and communities have opportunities to contribute to initiatives that affect their lives.

This , Save the Children is launching our Teachers Roadmap: a refreshed approach to how we will work with and support teachers in the coming years. It sets out our values, a new theory of change and three priorities:
1. Professional development and competencies;
2. Teacher wellbeing and motivation; and
3. School policy, leadership and culture.

Because celebrating teachers must go beyond thanking them.

Children deserve a strong start in life and a voice in shaping what comes next. ❤️

We welcomed Ms. Claire Taylor, MENAEE Senior Lead for Quality and Impact at Save the Children International, to connect with children and partners and explore how our programmes in Kosovo can make a lasting difference in children’s lives.

At the Early Childhood Care and Development Centre in Barileva, the visit highlighted why quality care and education matter from children’s earliest years. These opportunities help children build the skills, confidence and relationships they need to learn, develop and thrive.

Our exchange with QIKA, a partner under the Sida-funded Civil Society Strengthening Programme, highlighted the role of local organisations in advancing rights and equality. Strong partnerships help us understand communities’ experiences and work together to address barriers affecting children and young people.

The meeting with the national child-led group, Respect Our Rights (ROR), placed children’s voices at the centre of the day. Children must have meaningful opportunities to express their views, raise concerns and contribute to decisions affecting their lives. Listening to them helps shape programmes and advocacy that respond to their realities.

By learning from children and partners, we continue strengthening the quality and impact of our work so that more children can learn, feel safe and have their rights respected.

🎬 What does better access to education and opportunity look like in people’s lives?

For three years, the project “Empowerment of Kosovo Vulnerable Communities Through Better and Equal Access to the Labour Market” worked alongside children, young people, schools, communities, and partners across seven municipalities in Kosovo. Together, they addressed barriers to education, supported pathways into vocational training, and helped young people prepare for employment.

This video brings together the voices of people who benefited from the project and those who helped deliver it. They share the challenges they encountered, the opportunities created, and the changes they have seen along the way.

As the project comes to a close, their stories remind us why continued access to education and opportunity matters for children and young people from Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities.

🌟 A journey of empowerment, inclusion, and opportunity comes to a close

We marked the completion of the project “Empowerment of Kosovo Vulnerable Communities Through Better and Equal Access to the Labour Market,” funded by the Austrian Development Agency and implemented by Save the Children Kosova/o in cooperation with Syri i Vizionit and Nevo Koncepti.

From October 2023 to September 2026, the project worked across seven municipalities in Kosovo to improve access to education, vocational education and training, career guidance, and employment opportunities. Its activities focused particularly on children and young people from Roma, Ashkali, and Egyptian communities, supporting them to remain in education, strengthen their skills, and explore pathways towards dignified and sustainable work.

The closing event brought together representatives of institutions, civil society organizations, and other stakeholders to reflect on what the project achieved and what more is needed to ensure equal opportunities. Opening remarks were delivered by Ahmet Kryeziu, Executive Director of Save the Children Kosova/o; Përparim Kryeziu, Deputy Minister of Ministria e Arsimit dhe Shkencës; Georg Schnetzer, Ambassador of Austrian Embassy Pristina; Vjollca Krasniqi, Board Chair of Save the Children Kosova/o; and Mr. Arben Selimi, Director of the Competence Centre, Agjencia për Arsim dhe Aftësim Profesional dhe Arsimin e të Rriturve.

Our team presented the project’s key achievements and results. Veton Mujaj, Executive Director of Syri i Vizionit, and Osman Osmani, Executive Director of Nevo Koncepti, shared reflections on its implementation and lessons learned. An open discussion gave participants the opportunity to consider how institutions, communities, and civil society can build on this work.

🎬 The event concluded with a documentary capturing the project’s journey and the experiences of those involved.

We thank the children, young people, communities, institutions, and organizations who contributed throughout these three years. Their involvement has been central to this work, and continued cooperation will help more young people access education, develop their skills, and pursue meaningful employment opportunities.
