🚀 Supporting local businesses, creating new opportunities!

Together with the Municipality of Štrpce/Shtërpcë, we officially launched the In Motion and Growing with Your Business (GYB) programmes with the first information session for the selected businesses.
This cycle will support 14 local businesses:
✅ 10 through the In Motion programme
✅ 4 through the Growing with Your Business (GYB) programme
Over the coming months, participants will receive tailored mentoring, expert guidance, and practical business development support to strengthen their competitiveness, improve performance and unlock new opportunities for sustainable growth.
Through the UNDP’s Economic Resilience Programme, this partnership continues to invest in local entrepreneurs, helping build a stronger, more competitive, and resilient economy in Štrpce/Shtërpcë.

Through the EU funded and UNDP implemented regional initiative “EU Support to Confidence Building in the Western Balkans”, members of the Commission for Missing Persons including representatives from the Police Investigation Unit, the Institute of Forensic Medicine, the Special Prosecution’s Office, and the International Committee of the Red Cross convened in a workshop dedicated to strengthening coordination in communicating the sensitive handling of missing persons’ cases.

The workshop served as a valuable forum for Commission members to strengthen both internal and external communication in effectively applying a sensitive, do‑no‑harm approach in their engagement with victims. Participants exchanged perspectives on improving coordination in the identification and management of cases, addressing persistent challenges, and advancing efforts toward their successful resolution.

Celebrating 20 years of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption

For two decades, UNDP together with the Swiss Development Cooperation Office, the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, and previously the Danish International Development Agency, has partnered with the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption to strengthen transparency, integrity and accountability in .

Over the years, this partnership:

📝 Developed the legislative framework that strengthened the Agency's mandate.

🧑‍💻 Introduced an electronic public officials’ asset declaration system with automated risk indicators, reducing non-compliance to below 1%.

🗂️ Established a case management system to improve the efficiency of pre-investigative processes.

🔍 Supported the creation of dedicated divisions for integrity plans and corruption-proofing of legislation.

🪪 Launched a corruption risk assessment of the public procurement sector and, with the Agency, will develop an early warning system to help institutions anticipate risks and better target anti-corruption efforts.

These efforts have contributed to stronger institutional integrity, increased transparency and continued progress in the Transparency International Corruption Perceptions Index.

Congratulations to the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption on its 20th anniversary. UNDP remains committed to supporting efforts to strengthen integrity and accountability, contributing to stronger institutions and a more inclusive society where everyone can benefit and no one is left behind.
