RIT Kosovo Participates in APEL-WB Study Visit and Consortium Meeting

RIT Kosovo representatives participated in the APEL-WB study visit, training, and consortium meeting held at the University of Akureyri, Iceland.

The activities focused on Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL), including assessment processes, portfolio preparation, and quality assurance, as well as project progress, needs analysis, and upcoming activities.

The visit strengthened RIT Kosovo’s understanding of APEL and supported continued collaboration among APEL-WB project partners.

Dr. Mariel Leclere and Academic Advisor Alba Hajdini participated in a two-day WE-MIND Training of Trainers workshop at the University of Sarajevo on October 1–2, 2026.

The workshop brought together faculty and staff from partner institutions in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, focusing on mental health literacy, practical strategies for supporting students, and the values of inclusion, dignity, and equality.

Following the training, Dr. Leclere and Hajdini will share the knowledge and tools gained through a follow-up training for RIT Kosovo faculty and staff.

On October 21, RIT Kosovo’s community will come together at The Russian Tea Room in New York City for an evening dedicated to one goal: expanding access to education for the next generation of students in Kosovo.

Every ticket, sponsorship, and contribution helps us move closer to our $150,000 scholarship fundraising goal.

It was a pleasure to welcome Kujtim, Co-founder & CEO of Sentry, to RIT Kosovo for an inspiring conversation with our students on building a career in cybersecurity.

His key message: a diploma alone isn’t enough - you need evidence and trust.
🔹 Build evidence through CTFs, home labs, authorized vulnerability testing, and public write-ups.
🔹 Build trust by contributing to communities, connecting with mentors, and putting advice into practice.
🔹 Use AI as a powerful learning tool, while strengthening the fundamentals that make it effective.
🔹 Explore emerging fields like AI security, where new opportunities are taking shape.
