⚖️ Free Legal Aid Week in

This week, two initiatives in Prizren and Ferizaj/Uroševac brought legal knowledge closer to young people and citizens, promoting access to justice for all.

📍Ferizaj/Uroševac
In cooperation with the Agency for Free Legal Aid and the Local Youth Action Council, a Youth Legal Awareness Day brought young people together with institutional representatives, including Kosovo Police and QMGF Shtëpia Ime - Ferizaj / CPWC My Home - Ferizaj", to talk about rights, access to justice, and the protection mechanisms available to them.

📍Prizren
Together with the Agency for Free Legal Aid and the Faculty of Law at the University "Ukshin Hoti", law students took to public spaces to inform citizens about free legal aid: what it covers, who qualifies, and how to access it.

Both activities helped raise legal awareness, encourage civic engagement, and build trust in the institutions that protect people's rights. 💪

After eight years leading GIZ in Kosovo and North Macedonia, our Director David Oberhuber is concluding his mandate this month.

In a farewell interview with Telegrafi.com, he looks back on a period in which Kosovo grew into a more competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy.

He reflects on what GIZ and its Kosovar partners built together, from fostering innovation, skills development and private sector growth to modernising the energy and environmental sectors, advancing digitalisation, and building a more mature partnership based on increasing national commitment.

One message from the interview stays with us. As David puts it, ‘Kosovo is a functioning society with effective institutions and capable people, and a resilience that is often underestimated from the outside’.

Thank you, David, for eight years of partnership, dedication, and friendship. Your work leaves a lasting mark on our team and the country.

On the Kosovo side, representatives from the Wastewater Treatment Plant Peja/Peć and the Regional Water Company Hidrodrini took part in the exchange, hosted at ARA KEZ in the Canton of Zurich, one of Switzerland's most advanced wastewater treatment facilities.
