Prishtina Office - Open Society Foundations Western Balkans Since December 1999, KFOS is a legally registered NGO under UNMIK legislation. The Network of Soros Foundations has been present in Kosovo since 1993.

Kosovo Foundation for Open Society is part of the Open Society Foundations - Western Balkans, which includes foundations for open society in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia and Serbia Kosovo Foundation for Open Society is a local and non-governmental organization, being part of the international network of foundations financed by philanthropist George Soros. The Office was active

in the fields of education and youth, human rights, civil society, media, women programs, as well as other fields. With the decision of Mr. Soros, in June 1999 Prishtina Office was upgraded to an independent Foundation, supervised by a Kosovar Board and with a consolidated management.
