EULEX Kosovo (Official) The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) is the largest ever deployed civilian Common Security and Defence (CSDP) mission of the EU.

The European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) was launched in 2008 as the largest civilian mission under the Common Security and Defence Policy of the European Union. EULEX’s overall mission is to support selected rule of law institutions in Kosovo on their path towards increased effectiveness, sustainability, multi-ethnicity and accountability, free from political interference and in line with international human rights standards and best European practices. On World Mental Health Day, we are reminded that mental health care, dignity and well-being are equally important for people in correctional settings. Behind every case is a person with individual experiences, challenges and needs that deserve to be recognised and addressed.

The EULEX Correctional Unit works closely with the Kosovo Correctional Service (KCS) to strengthen staff capacities in recognising and responding to mental health challenges, preventing self-harm and su***de, addressing addictions, and providing peer support.

By promoting awareness, professional skills and a more supportive correctional environment, EULEX and KCS are working towards safer, more humane and rehabilitation-focused correctional services.

🎖️On 29 September, 26 members of the 7th EULEX Reserve Formed Police Unit (RFPU) were awarded the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP) Service Medal, honouring their commitment and dedication to the values of peace, security and overall rule of law.

Opening the official ceremony, the Head of EULEX Antero Lopes, said: “Working in close coordination with the Kosovo Police and KFOR, you have contributed to the three-tiered security responder mechanism,” stressing how their presence also carried an important message to the people of Kosovo: when circumstances so require, the European Union is prepared to stand alongside its partners and contribute to stability.

The service medal presentation was enriched by the presence of Kosovo Minister of Internal Affairs Xhelal Sveçla, Ambassador of the Netherlands in Kosovo Astrid de Vries, Ambassador-at-Large, Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Lithuania in Skopje, Vilma Dambrauskienė, Deputy Ambassador of France to Kosovo, Marc Ivarra, representatives of Embassies, International Organisations, and KFOR.

Temporary deployed to Kosovo under the aegis of the European Gendarmerie Force (EUROGENDFOR) - provided by the 🇫🇷 Gendarmerie nationale Française, the 🇱🇹 Lithuanian Public Security Service, Koninklijke Marechaussee (🇳🇱 The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee and the 🇵🇱 Polish Military Gendarmerie, the dedicated RFPU Officers have served under the EU banner alongside the EULEX 🇵🇱 Formed Police Unit with the aim of ensuring the Mission’s necessary capacities for supporting security and safety of all communities throughout Kosovo.

Among the many activities was a joint crowd-and-riot control exercise with the Kosovo Police.

🎖️Më 29 shtator, 26 pjesëtarë të Njësisë Rezervë të 7-të të Policisë së Specializuar të EULEX-it (NJRPS) u dekoruan me Medalje të Politikës të Përbashkët të BE-së për Siguri dhe Mbrojtje (PPSM) për Shërbim, në shenjë të njohjes të zotimit dhe përkushtimit të tyre ndaj vlerave të paqes, sigurisë dhe sundimit të ligjit në përgjithësi.

Në hapje të ceremonisë zyrtare, Shefi i EULEX-it Antero Lopes, tha: “Duke punuar në bashkërendim të afërt me Policinë e Kosovës dhe KFOR-in, ju keni kontribuar në mekanizmin treshtresor të reagimit të sigurisë,”, dhe theksoi se prania e tyre po ashtu ka bartur një porosi të rëndësishme për njerëzit në Kosovë: kur rrethanat e kërkojnë, Bashkimi Evropian është i përgatitur të qëndrojë krah partnerëve të tij dhe të kontribuojë për stabilitet.

EULEX-ove Rezervne specijalizovane policijske jedinice (RSPJ) odlikovano je 29. septembra Medaljom za službu u okviru Zajedničke bezbednosne i odbrambene politike (ZBOP) EU, u znak priznanja za njihovu posvećenost i predanost vrednostima mira, bezbednosti i vladavine prava u celini.

Otvarajući zvaničnu ceremoniju, šef EULEX-a Antero Lopes je rekao: „Radeći u tesnoj koordinaciji sa Policijom Kosova i KFOR-om, doprineli ste troslojnom mehanizmu za bezbednosni odgovor”, ističući da njihovo prisustvo takođe šalje važnu poruku stanovništvu Kosova: kada to okolnosti zahtevaju, Evropska unija je spremna da stane uz svoje partnere i doprinese stabilnosti.

“Building on our ongoing collaboration, EULEX remains committed to supporting KPS efforts to deliver services such as effective and targeted rehabilitation programmes to probation clients,” Lopes commented.
