YWCA of Samoa

YWCA of Samoa A non government organisation established in 1974 for the promotion of programmes for young women of Samoa.

The YWCA of Samoa is a member of a worldwide women’s volunteer membership inspired by the Christian faith (World YWCA). The purpose of the YWCA of Samoa is to develop the leadership and collective power of women and girls in Samoa to achieve human rights, health, security, dignity, freedom, justice and peace for all people. The objectives of the Association are:

- To achieve cultural, economic,

political, religious and social justice for all women and girls.

- To develop and sustain women's leadership, and to promote women as decision makers in all spheres of public life.

- To advocate for the human rights of women and children, women's health, world peace with justice and sustainable development (including women's economic justice and the environment).

- To promote the principles of diversity, inclusiveness, tolerance, mutual respect, integrity and responsible accountability within our volunteer movement and within our community.

- To advocate for the self determination of women and girls in all areas of life.

- To provide Leadership which improves the status of women and girls around the world.

- To provide opportunities for young women's leadership.

- To care for the environment.

- To do all such other lawful things as shall further the objects of the Association. (extracted from the Constitution of the YWCA of Samoa INC.)
