📣 CALL FOR COMMUNITY PROPOSALS 🌱

UNDP Samoa, in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment Samoa and with support from the Government of the People’s Republic of China (中国驻萨摩亚使馆 Chinese Embassy in Samoa), is inviting village communities to apply for support to establish a Solar-Powered Community Nursery.

One selected village will receive:
✅ A 1–2 kW solar system
✅ Nursery construction materials
✅ Training and technical support
✅ Support to develop a small community enterprise

This initiative aims to strengthen reforestation efforts, support livelihoods, empower women and youth, and help protect Samoa’s environment for future generations 🌿

📅 Applications close: 30 June 2026
📍 Open to village councils, women’s committees, youth groups, and community organisations.

Strengthening Partnerships in Samoa 🇼🇸

had the pleasure of welcoming the Governor General of Australia, HE Sam Mostyn, and her delegation today. Along with Civil Society Organisations partnering with the Tautua Human Development Program, SWAG shared its mission and vision for economic empowerment of women through current projects. The event provided an important opportunity for local organisations to showcase their work, achievements, and priorities in advancing sustainable and inclusive development in Samoa.

SWAG was represented by Vice President and Secretary of Executive Board, to share projects like which provides training in value-added products to create necessary income for women in rural spaces combined with on-line marketing and branding, while promoting natural farming techniques and biodegradable/recyclable packaging through support provided under the Tautua Program.

Governor General Mostyn highlighted a "care for country" approach to environmental practices and emphasized the importance of listening to women experiencing the greatest vulnerabilities. This means consulting directly with women in remote, isolated, and rural settings to understand their localized barriers and finding solutions that work for them.❤️👏

was greatful for the engagement of HE Will Robinson and DFAT Samoa team in order to share our passion for supporting women in Samoa through meaningful and lasting interventions ❤️🇼🇸🌱
