With the deepest respect to Alo Paopao Academy and all who promote canoeing in Samoa, we would like to share an important piece of our sport’s history.

While your flyer celebrates your upcoming Independence Regatta as the “first village regatta in Samoa,” it’s important to note that we Salani Bright Horizons proudly hosted the very first village regatta in Salani, Falealili, in October 2025.

That milestone was not just an event, it was a labor of love, dedication, and community spirit, bringing canoeing to our village and inspiring generations to come.

We share this not to diminish anyone’s efforts, but to honor the truth and the incredible journey of introducing this sport to our local communities. Together, every regatta strengthens the heartbeat of Samoan canoeing.
