AU NOA TA (WE THANK YOU in Ngunese language)....to Vanuatu Government for ensuring the Australian-funded R4D Program to finally come to Nguna to complete the 1.8 km cement works on what we believe is the most significant section of the 17km road on the island.

Initial talks on fixing this 1.8km stretch from Malaliu on the foothills of the extinct volcanoe down to the coast started a decade ago. The Vanuatu Government injected some funds enough to cover some 400meters over a 5 year period. Last year saw funds initially allocated for Nguna was diverted to Epule therefore R4D's intervention now is a blessing for the chiefs and people of Nguna, especially for our farmers and mama market vendors.

Water Supply System for Nguna and Pele...an application from our private sector partners (Thesee Ingenierie) has been lodged to an International Funding agency in France mainland.

The total budget allocation requested for the 2 islands (ie Nguna and Pele) is over VT300 million.

A one-off cost of around VT12.7 million is needed by the company to conduct a diagnostic / feasibility / exploration on the 2 islands to determine the final cost of the project.

We are working on a white paper for the Vanuatu Government to fund the VT12.7 million pre-lim studies and design network phase of this multi-million dollar project.

WATER FORUM

A one day Water Forum is scheduled to take place on the island of Nguna on Friday 20th November 2015.

The main objective of this forum is to bring together experts in water resources with the entire community of Nguna and Pele in order to put together a WATER RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT & MANAGEMENT PLAN for 15 village communities spread across the 2 islands of Nguna and Pele located off the northern coast of mainland Efate.

The forum will be co-sponsored by Thesee Inginierie & Altereo from New Caledonie and De Roza Investment Group Limited.
