🕊️ In Loving Memory of a Dedicated Artist - Jean-Claude Toure. 🎨

It is with great sadness that we learned of the passing of a wonderful artist and friend to the art community. 💔

My deepest and heartfelt condolences go to his wife, children, families, loved ones, and everyone who knew him. May you find strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time. 🙏🏽🕊️

I will always remember his dedication to his art and his willingness to support our exhibitions. Whenever I called on artists to contribute their work, he was always willing to take part and share his talent with us. 🎨❤️

I never imagined that the last exhibition, “Ol Ruts Blong Yumi” Exhibition on Wed 2nd September 2026 would be the last time we would see you.

I remember calling you numerous times to come up on stage. You were the last artist to come up and gave your speech. You apologised and explained that you had been waiting for a phone call.

Looking back now, that moment means so much more to us. I am grateful that you came and that we had that final opportunity to share the exhibition and stories together. 🕊️❤️

Thank you for your dedication, your contribution to the arts, and for always answering the call out to artists whenever i requested one. 🎨🤝🏽

You will be deeply missed, but your art, your talent, and your contribution to our artistic community will remain with us forever. 🕊️🎨❤️

Rest in Peace Jean-Claude! 😭

We are proud to share the journey of three talented artists Carole Réocreux, Jacobe Wamelbu and Amelia Lovo who had the wonderful opportunity to spend two months in France, developing their artistic practice, experiencing a new cultural environment, and sharing their creativity.

Their time in France culminated in an exhibition, giving audiences the opportunity to discover their works and the stories, cultures and experiences that inspired them. 🌿🎨

A beautiful opportunity for cultural exchange and for Vanuatu’s artistic voices to be seen on an international stage. 🇻🇺❤️🇫🇷

Congratulations to these three artists on this important achievement as they are back now in Port Vila, we wish them continued success in their artistic journeys!

A heartfelt thank you to all the artists who contributed their beautiful artworks and shared their stories, creativity and connection to our roots. Your participation helped make the “Ol Ruts Blong Yumi” Exhibition such a meaningful and successful celebration. ❤️

A very special thank you to everyone who attended the opening last night. Your presence, support and encouragement made the evening truly remarkable. It was wonderful to see people coming together to celebrate Graon, Kastom, Identiti, Hom and Koneksen through art. 🌺🎨

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped make this exhibition possible. 🙏🏽

As part of the tribute exhibition to Juliette Pita, “The Coconut Tree, Tree of Life”, an artistic residency is currently bringing together in Port-Vila artists from Vanuatu, New Caledonia and Fiji for a time of creation, transmission and exchange: Fany Edwin, Waave, Reapi Blyde, Mere Rasue, Amelia Lovo, Tania Calvo, Elizabeth Kaio and Carole Réocreux.

Organised by the Women Wetem Kala collective, in collaboration with the Alliance française de Port-Vila and with the support of the Fondation Suzanne Bastien, this residency pays tribute to the artistic and human legacy of Juliette Pita, a major figure in contemporary art in Vanuatu.

For the past few days, the artists have been sharing their practices, developing collective and individual works, and taking part in a shared reflection around themes that were dear to Juliette Pita: nature, women, transmission, traditions and spirituality.

This residency will include several opportunities for the public to meet the artists, including an open stage, discussions, and the opening night of the exhibition on Wednesday 20 May from 5pm at the Fondation Suzanne Bastien. Vernissage Expo Hommage à Juliette Pita - Le Cocotier Arbre de Vie
