Successful completion of the Training of Trainers (TOT) and Simulation Exercise on Displacement and Evacuation Centre Management National Guidelines, facilitated by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) with participants from NGOs and partner organizations.
The training strengthened knowledge and practical skills in emergency preparedness, displacement management, and evacuation centre coordination to better support communities during disasters and emergencies in Vanuatu.
The simulation exercise provided valuable hands-on experience in applying the national guidelines, improving coordination, communication, and response capacity among stakeholders.
A big thank you to IOM, all facilitators, participants, NGOs, and partners for your commitment and active participation towards building safer and more resilient communities.

We are grateful for this opportunity for the team from Matanbei (RIVERS) and LDSC projects to have successfully completed the one week Logalto training in Laukota, Fiji.

The team spent the first three days going through Logalto training and the next two days setting up the project Logframe and creating custom forms that will be used in the backend to collect data. This is a great milestone for ADRA Vanuatu as this team will continue to work with ADRA New Zealand to make sure project data is properly captured and updated on Logalto.

Thank you ADRA New Zealand and ADRA Australia for this support to our office. We acknowledge Logalto facilitator Estaban from ADRA Australia, who was patient with the team and made the training fun and interesting.

Thank you ADRA Fiji for the great Fijian hospitality and amazing support right throughout the week. Tankio tumas, for all you have done for us.

Building Strong Leaders for Strong Communities.

Emerging leaders, including our respected chiefs from 10 communities in Sanma Province , recently took part in a Leadership, Time management and Good Governance Training from 30th - 1st April 2026 which aimed at strengthening their capacity to effectively lead and support developments in the communities.
Chiefs and community leaders play a vital role in guiding development at the grassroots level.

This training focused on empowering them with practical skills and knowledge to positively influence decision-making, promote good governance, and drive sustainable community initiatives.
The training was organized by ADRA Vanuatu through the SHAPE Project and facilitated by Mr Rexly Iven Shem, whose insights and experience greatly guided the learning sessions.

A key component of the training was financial literacy, helping leaders better understand how to responsibly manage project funds raised through community contributions, such as fees and bill payments. This is critical to ensuring transparency, accountability, and trust within our communities.

We thank all participants for their commitment to learn and lead. Together, we continue building strong leaders who can shape positive and lasting impact in our communities in Sanma Province.

💧✨ Clean Water, Stronger Communities! ✨💧

Between 26th February and 3rd March, ADRA Vanuatu DWSSP team joined hands with 10 Santo communities in SANMA province —

Jarahaty, Jaraland, Lathi, Banban Honorable Street, Banban White Wood, Banban Unity, Bombua, Biria, Vatula, and Maloeta — to carry out Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) trainings improvement Plans .

The DWSSP Water Training conducted by ADRA Vanuatu has directly contributed to the implementation of the National Sustainable Development Plan (NSDP) for Vanuatu by strengthening community capacity in water resource management and supporting national goals for sustainable development.

This report will be submitted to the Department of Water Resources-Vanuatu. Hence, the same DWSSP training will be held on Tanna in the coming months.

This is more than training — it’s about empowering communities to take charge of their future and ensure clean, safe and accessible water for generations to come. 🌍💦

đź’§ A New Chapter for Avunatari Sector 1

For years, families in Avunatari Sector 1 had difficulties in accessing water, they have to walk 5-10 mins to the nearest Borehole or Rain catchment to access water. Today, thanks to the LDSC team, three rainwater harvesting systems are already in place, and work is expanding to seven surrounding communities.

In Avunavae, Sanabae, Avunatavoa, and JingonTana, old hand pumps are being transformed into solar-powered systems with tap stands—bringing water closer to homes. In Lomak, Paradise Borehole, and Avunabakura, elevated tank bases are being built to ensure reliable storage.

On Malo, the LDSC-ADRA team is hard at work, while awaiting the hydrologists prepare to test boreholes for the best pump solutions. Meanwhile, community members are lending their hands and hearts, proud to see progress unfolding.

🌟 The impact is life-changing: women and children will spend less time fetching water, opening doors to education, work, and brighter futures.

This is more than construction—it’s hope flowing through every tap. 💦✨
