βοΈOn World Refugee Day, observed every year on June 20, we, West Papuan Women, call on the solidarity of all our friends and allies for the people who have been forced to flee their homes in Papua and who continue to bear the impact of armed conflict and military operations.
π Thousands of families have been forced to leave behind their homes, livelihoods, schools, churches, and ancestral lands in search of safety and protection. Displacement is not a choice. Every person has the right to live in peace, security, and dignity.
Internally displaced persons need humanitarian assistance, protection, access to education and healthcare services, and opportunities to return home safely and voluntarily.
π€² On this World Refugee Day, we honor the resilience of communities that have been forcibly displaced throughout Papua. We recognize their courage, acknowledge their suffering, and reaffirm the importance of protecting human rights and upholding humanitarian principles.
π£ We call on all parties to prioritize the safety of civilians, ensure humanitarian access, and work toward peaceful solutions that will enable displaced families to return home with dignity.
