At Melanesian Women Today International, our roots are tied to the South Pacific, where person and place are one. This philosophy grounds our deep responsibility to honor the unceded, traditional ancestral territories we occupy.

🌲 We formally acknowledge that Bainbridge Island is located within the ancestral territory of the Suquamish People (the suq̀ʷabš, meaning "People of Clear Salt Water")

Just as we champion the leadership of Indigenous women across the Pacific, we pay our deep respects to the original stewards of this land. We lift up our hands to them and are grateful to navigate our "Two Canoes" model in solidarity with Indigenous sovereignty everywhere. 🛶🌍
