One of the biggest things we are learning through Limbs Matter Vanuatu is that making a prosthetic isn’t just about making a limb and handing it over.
People’s bodies change.
For some of our diabetic patients, losing or gaining just 2–3 kilos can be enough to change the fit of their prosthetic completely.
This is exactly why Vanuatu needs a local prosthetic solution. Our patients need to be able to come back, to have their socket adjusted, be rescanned when necessary, and have their prosthetic adapted as their body changes.
Prosthetic care is an ongoing relationship rarely a one time service like most solutions proposed until a few years ago.
That’s what we’re building with Limbs Matter Vanuatu: not simply prosthetics made in Vanuatu, but a local service that stays with our patients. ❤️🇻🇺
