Save the Children Vanuatu (SCV) welcomed colleagues into Santo earlier this week from the Australian Humanitarian Partnership (AHP) and Australian High Commission to visit CDCCCs that are supported through the Disaster READY (DR) program.
With AHP funding, SCV is supporting CDCCCs across Santo and Ambae, including Totkar Kole 2, to establish and strengthen inclusive CDCCCs so they can better prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. 🫱🏾🫲🏾
Chairlady of Totkar Kole 2 CDCCC, Ms Rita Lele, said “We are proud to share with you the progress of our Community Based Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives within our community.
The work we are doing together to strengthen preparedness, reduce risks, and protect our people during times of disaster through unity, training, and cooperation; makes our communities grow stronger. We are more resilient in the face of uncertainty. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for walking this journey with us. We are truly honoured and inspired by your support and commitment to create meaningful and lasting change”.
AHP & SCV representatives acknowledge the strong leadership and success of the DR program implementation in these communities and encourage all CDCCCs in Santo and Ambae to continue the important work they do.👏🤩
SCV’s Disaster READY program supports inclusive CDCCCs so women, men, children, older people, and people with disabilities are safer and better supported when disasters strike. 💪🏽
“Disaster READY is supported by the Australian Government and implemented by Save the Children Vanuatu and its partners”.
