Le Touch Blong Vanuatu continues to grow!

Following the valuable support from the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives, we are proud to see the construction of the centre moving forward — now with the support of the Government of Japan.

This project is becoming a reality step by step, creating a vibrant space to showcase local talents, products, and culture.

Thank you PHAMA Plus – and the Australian & New Zealand Governments – for your support to ACTIV & AELAN

We would like to express our sincere thanks to PHAMA Plus, funded by the Australian Government and the New Zealand Government, for their strong and continued support to ACTIV / AELAN.

Through PHAMA Plus, this support has enabled the provision of key equipment for the creation of a second chocolate production line under our Shared Chocolate Factory concept. This new line will directly assist 13 cocoa producers from different islands of Vanuatu to enter chocolate production, add value locally, and strengthen long-term livelihoods beyond raw bean exports.

Over the years, PHAMA Plus’ investment in cacao and kava processing, value addition, certification, market access, and farmer engagement has played a critical role in building a stronger, more inclusive, and more resilient agricultural sector in Vanuatu.

The PHAMA Plus Vanuatu Knowledge Forum was a powerful moment to reflect on how far the sector has come and to look ahead to what we can build together through partnership and shared vision.

Together—with farmers, communities, governments, and partners—we are transforming cocoa into opportunity.

Shared Chocolate, Shared Impact across Vanuatu 🇻🇺

We’re proud to share this video produced by Titan Fx, featuring Eric Kalterikia & Talitha Kalterikia from Kakasi Chocolate.

Through the Shared Chocolate (Shared Factory) concept, ACTIV Association is supporting 15 different cocoa producers across multiple islands, enabling Ni-Vanuatu farmers and entrepreneurs to access chocolate processing, build skills, and create added value locally.

Today, the Shared Chocolate concept supports cocoa producers in:
• Santo
• Malo
• Malekula
• Épi
• Maewo
• Efate

This model allows local producers to move from cocoa beans to finished chocolate, strengthening livelihoods, local ownership, and long-term economic resilience.

A major milestone for Le Touch blong Vanuatu

Today has been a very positive and meaningful day for ACTIV Association and the communities we support. We were honoured to officially sign the grant agreement with the Government of Japan, during a ceremony held at the Residence of His Excellency the Ambassador of Japan, Mr. OKUDA Naohisa, in Port Vila.

The project officially titled “The Project for Women’s Microenterprise Livelihood Improvement in Vanuatu”, approved by the Government of Japan, forms part of the development of the community centre Le Touch blong Vanuatu.

The signing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Shem Simon, Private Secretary to the Minister of Finance, the Mayor of Port Vila, Ms. Jenny Regenvanu, as well as representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Tourism, the Klivtrn Harvest Presbyterian Church, and ACTIV Association. Their presence reflects the strong institutional and community support surrounding this project.

The centre is designed to create a resilient and inclusive market space to support local chefs, vendors, artisans and Vanuatu Made entrepreneurs , who have been affected by the 17 December 2024 earthquake and the prolonged closure of Port Vila’s city centre.

Le Touch blong Vanuatu aims to be an affordable, structured, and sustainable workspace, enabling small entrepreneurs to restart their activities, promote local products, and strengthen community livelihoods.

Thanks to this support, works will start as soon as possible, with the objective of a pre-opening of the centre by the end of March or early April.

We are deeply grateful for the support of the Government of Japan, and for the trust placed in ACTIV and our land partner, the Klivtrn Harvest Presbyterian Church.
Today’s signing marks the beginning of a new and concrete phase towards inclusive recovery, resilience, and long-term community development.

En cette période de fêtes, toute l’équipe Aelan Vanuatu et le bureau de l’association ACTIV souhaitent adresser leurs meilleurs vœux à l’ensemble de nos partenaires, clients, producteurs, artisans et soutiens qui ont été à nos côtés tout au long de l’année passée.

Merci pour votre confiance, votre engagement et votre soutien, qui donnent du sens à chacun des projets que nous portons ensemble.

Nous clôturons cette année avec une pensée toute particulière pour Juliette Pita, l’un des piliers et membres fondateurs de l’association ACTIV, que nous avons perdue mais qui reste profondément présente avec nous.
