Vanuatu Women's Centre VWC provides counselling & legal services, information on violence against women & hold community awareness, workshops and trainings on domestic violence.

VWC is located in Nambatu area, beside Sunrise Production on Rue d'Anjou road. VWC has 4 Branches located in Luganville in Santo (Sanma Counselling Centre), Lenakel in Tanna (Tafea Counselling Centre), Sola in the Banks (Torba Counselling Centre) & Lakatoro in Malekula (Malampa Counselling Centre). VWC has a network of 39 committees against violence against women (CAVAW) that work throughout the i

slands of Vanuatu from the Torres Groups to Anietyum. VWC's network works to eliminate violence against women and girls in Vanuatu.

On 3rd June 2026, the Vanuatu Women’s centre was delighted to meet with Lauren O’keefe and her family from Sydney, Australia again here main office. During their second visit, the family generously donated children’s and women’s clothes and toys and essential items to support women and children accessing VWC Services and Safe Space.

They have visited Vanuatu many times over the years, they continue to demonstrate a strong connection to the Vanuatu and commitment to support local communities. The donation was warmly received by VWC Coordinator and Communication officer, who expressed sincere appreciation for the family’s kindness and generosity.

The Vanuatu Women’s Centre extends heartfelt thanks to Lauren O’keefe and her family for their thoughtful contribution and support you have provided. Their generosity helps strengthen the centre’s work in providing care, protection and hope to women and children throughout Vanuatu.

Vanuatu Women's Centre recently attended the Pacific Gender BasedViolence Data Workshop. The workshop brought together countries such as Fiji, Vanuatu, Solomon Islands, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia and Samoa.

The workshop aims to facilitate knowledge exchange among Pacific island practitioners of GBV prevalence data to inform regional GBV management plans, policies and surveys as well as to ensure their voices and experiences are reflected in global methodologies and fora.

VWC had the privilege also to sit in as a panelist for a "Talanoa Session" where discussions were mainly around the experiences of VWC during the undertaking of it's 2nd National Prevalence Survey, 2024.

The workshop took place on May 25 -26th at Novotel Lami,Suva,Fiji.

What an inspiring and uplifting day at the Mental Health Mini Conference 2026, held at the National University of Vanuatu on 29 May 2026! 🇻🇺💚

“Stronger together: strengthening systems, supporting communities, & promoting mental well-being for a resilient Vanuatu,”
the conference brought together passionate voices, dedicated professionals, and community leaders — all united for a healthier future.
🌟 Participants were energized by engaging presentations and meaningful discussions on mental health across Vanuatu.

The Vanuatu Women’s Centre attended an important meeting of the Mind Care Bill Working Group as part of its ongoing commitment to supporting inclusive, rights-based approaches to mental health and wellbeing in Vanuatu.

The meeting, held at the Law Reform Commission’s conference room in Port Vila, marked another key milestone in the development of the Mind Care Bill. Discussions focused on important policy considerations that will guide the drafting of the legislation, ensuring it reflects the needs of service users, frontline workers, and key stakeholders.

The Working Group brings together representatives from government agencies, service providers, and key partners, including the Mind Care Unit, Ministry of Youth, Justice and Community Services, Ministry of Health, Vanuatu Police Force, nurses, the Human Rights and Disability Desk, service users, and the Vanuatu Law Reform Commission.

The participation of VWC reflects its continued advocacy for the protection, safety, and wellbeing of women and girls, especially those affected by violence and mental health challenges.

Together, partners are working to strengthen a more responsive, accessible, and people-centred mental health system for Vanuatu.

On Saturday 16th May 2026, the Vanuatu Women’s Centre conducted a Community Awareness session at the Benjor Bukura area community.

The session focused on Gender-Based Violence, understanding different forms of Domestic Violence, Child Abuse, Technology-Facilitated Abuse, and the support services provided by Vanuatu Women’s Centre, including Counselling, Community Education, and Legal Information.

A total of 55 participants attended the awareness session, including 25 women, 17 men, and 13 children. Community members actively participated by asking important questions, especially regarding the recent domestic violence case where a woman lost her life. Discussions also highlighted how Vanuatu Women’s Centre and the Vanuatu Police Force work together to support survivors and respond to cases of violence.

The program was included a token of appreciation also presented to the Chief for allowing Vanuatu Women’s Centre to conduct the awareness session in the community; welcome remarks by the VWC Coordinator, cake cutting, awareness sessions led by the Community Educator, sharing lunch together, and the distribution of posters, 7 legal brochures, Family Protection Law information, 10 child safety rules, understanding Human Rights and newsletters.

Community members and chief leaders expressed their appreciation for the time and effort taken by Vanuatu Women’s Centre to visit and engage with them. They also shared their commitment to continue working together in the future to strengthen awareness, respond and prevent violence against women and children in their communities.
