Live & Learn Vanuatu is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Finance Manager to lead and strengthen our financial management functions
If you are a financial leader ready to oversee budgeting, reporting, compliance, and donor financial management across community programs, we want to hear from you!

📍 Location: Port Vila, Vanuatu

💰 Remuneration: Base salary range of 2.0 million Vatu to 3.0 million Vatu per year
Key Responsibilities:
-Manage financial systems, budgeting, forecasts, and reporting processes
-Ensure compliance with donor and statutory requirements
-Oversee payroll, audits, cash flow management, and internal controls
-Support project managers with financial planning and monitoring
-Supervise finance staff and build team capacity

Key Requirements:
-Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
-Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management
-Strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills
-Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications
-Preferred: Professional accounting qualifications (CPA, CA, ACCA, or equivalent) and experience with donor-funded NGO projects

Ruawia Woman Farmers of Emau Island in Vanuatu 🇻🇺continue to thrive for their woman farmers Economic empowerment, leadership, ownership and innovation🌱🌱

The Ruawia farmer group in Ngurua village, Emau Island recently has completed another four- day training workshop on Nursery establishment and Management.

Ruawia Farmer Group was established with the support of the Live & Learn Vanuatu SNBAg Project, and we are proud to see them taking leadership and ownership of local initiatives and partnerships to achieve social, environmental, and economic development priorities for their community and the Emau Area Council.

A sincere thank you to the Department of Forests for the continued Nursery trainings for the Ruawia farmer group that will continue to support their coffee farmers Agroforestry Initiatives with other Non-Forest Timber Products which includes Pandanus replanting.

Workshop & Training highlights:

Practical skill building: The four-day field activity revisited hands-on training and practical knowledge transfer on nursery establishment, routine maintenance, management, and addressing potential long-term operational challenges

1,000 pandanus seedlings: Participants prepared two nursery seedbeds, and potted 1,000 collected germinates and cuttings to support a shift from subsistence farming to income-generating non-timber forest product (NTFP) opportunities.

Strong women's engagement: Active participation from local mothers demonstrated inspiring local commitment to improving households' livelihoods

Essential Infrastructure: Supported by a 6,000-litre water tank from the Department of Forestry to maintain seedling watering requirements

Mr Chrisward Cyrus recently participated, alongside other youths from the Pacific representing the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) Pacific, at the 11th Pacific Islands Conference for Nature Conservation in Noumea. Apart from six (6) different workshop thematic streams- Area-based conservation & connectivity, Species and Ecosystem, Invasive Species, Environmental Governance & Leadership, People, Nature and Culture- Cyrus's interest is in Nature-Based Solutions.

This platform allowed him to connect with regional leaders, Pacific youth, and stakeholders, sharing experiences from the Conservation theme. He reflected on a quote from his youth colleague: “Young Pacific People are not only leaders of tomorrow; we are the partners you need today.” His message to youths was simple:

“Chrisward urges all youths who have a passion for environmental protection and stewardship to get involved in simple actions starting from your home, community, school, workplace, and move on to the next level, because this triple planetary crisis (Climate Change, Biodiversity loss & Pollution) is the business of everyone; our voices as youth will be heard or recognised nationally/regionally if we start something small beneficial to the Environment or Ecosystem that we depend on. The Partners you need today are investing in our strength, our traditional knowledge, and building our capacity to lead in this space for the sake of our future generation".

Live and Learn Vanuatu acknowledges Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) for fully funding our staff Mr Chrisward Cyrus and his Youth story as part of this 11th Pacific Islands Conference for Nature Conservation and the Global Youth Biodiversity Network (GYBN) Pacific for empowering Pacific youth in biodiversity and conservation.

Mr Cyrus attended this conference with Ms Karlene Tevi, both from Live & Learn Vanuatu.

🤝 A Milestone Partnership for Live & Learn Vanuatu

3 September 2026 marks another important milestone for Live & Learn Vanuatu, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Department of Trades and Industry.

The MOU was formally signed by Director Kalo of the Department of Trades and Industry and Live & Learn Vanuatu Country Manager, Ms Glarinda Andre Tanearu, strengthening collaboration to support sustainable development and empower communities across Vanuatu.

Speaking at the signing, Director Kalo highlighted the important role of development partners in helping the government translate policies into meaningful action. He noted that while the Government, through its ministries, develops policies and sets national priorities, partners play a critical role in supporting ministries to achieve these targets and deliver tangible benefits to communities.

In response, Ms Tanearu reaffirmed Live & Learn Vanuatu’s commitment to working alongside the Government and its partners to continue supporting communities across Vanuatu.

“Live & Learn Vanuatu will continue to support our communities around Vanuatu,” Ms Tanearu said, emphasising the 2030 targets of Live and Learn Vanuatu startegic document, which was launched in April 2026.

Live and Learn Vanuatu Food Resilience Model supports 21 Women Farmer Groups across Efate, Santo, Malekula, Gaua and Erromango and this agreement strengthens the collaboration between the two organisations to continue working together, supporting these 21 Farmer Groups.

🌱 Empowering Efate’s Woman Farmers 🚜✨into Producers, Consermers & Market Cooperatives

From August 24th to 28th, 2026, Live & Learn Vanuatu, under its UNDP GOV4res project, partnered with AJ Consultancy to deliver an impactful 5-day cooperatives preparatory training at the Vanuatu Cricket facility in Port Vila!
The training brought together 11 participants—10 women and 1 male—representing 4 passionate farmer groups across Efate: Pangpang, Savaki, Mangaliliu, and Emau.

Our participants dedicated their week to upskilling and focusing on the Cooperative Registration Processes, along with 📊 Bookkeeping principles, 📝 Financial record management, and 💼 Basic business accounting, helping women farmers build strong cooperative foundations for resilient agricultural economies.
To celebrate their engagement and participation at the week-long training, every participant was awarded a certificate of participation at the close of the training! 🎓📜
