🌟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

Our June Medical High School Special Group and Flexi volunteers visited Van Canh Village in Xuan Phuong, Hanoi, a care community that supports children and adults living with disabilities, as well as individuals receiving long-term care and rehabilitation, to deliver a dental health education session for the children.

Throughout the afternoon, the volunteers brought oral health to life with brushing demonstrations, games, quizzes, and colouring activities, making the session fun, interactive, and full of energy. To wrap up, each child received a dental hygiene kit to help them keep up those healthy habits at home.

The visit concluded with a meeting with the Village Director, where the group learned more about the village's history, its mission, and the community it serves.

Hoạt động thuộc khuôn khổ sáng kiến “Phố xanh cây, Phường sạch rác”. Qua hoạt động ý nghĩa này, Keep Vietnam Clean kêu gọi 20 bạn tình nguyện viên nhiệt huyết, cùng nhau biến những hành động nhỏ thành thay đổi lớn, vì một không gian sống xanh, bền vững tại khu vực Công viên rừng Phúc Tân, Hà Nội.

Sự kiện có sự đồng hành của các bạn tình nguyện đến từ dự án Projects Abroad for Vietnam (PAFVN), đơn vị tổ chức các chương trình tình nguyện và thực tập cho sinh viên quốc tế tại Việt Nam.

💪 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐞𝐫

On Rhianna and Olivia's first morning at Viet Duc Hospital, communication came in fragments.

A smile. A nod. A translation app passed back and forth between screens.

Somewhere along the way, that stopped feeling like a barrier.

Over the following week, they worked alongside physiotherapists, helped guide patients through post-operative rehabilitation, and discovered that even without a shared language, encouragement often looks the same.

Their internship then took them through the Cardiovascular & Thoracic Intensive Care Unit and Neurosurgery, where they witnessed different stages of recovery, from intensive care to a patient's first steps back on their feet.

When it came time to conclude their placement, returning to Rehabilitation felt like coming back to where it all began.

At the team's invitation, the two final-year physiotherapy students from the UK shared how common shoulder conditions are assessed and managed in the NHS before demonstrating a series of rehabilitation exercises together. What followed was less of a lecture than a professional exchange, with questions, comparisons, and conversations flowing both ways.

Perhaps that's the best way to describe their time at Viet Duc Hospital.

Not as students watching from the sidelines, but as future physiotherapists working shoulder to shoulder with the people who welcomed them from day one.

🩺 𝐋𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐬𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐫𝐞

As part of their medical internship at Ha D**g General Hospital, 24 Projects Abroad volunteers from Australia, the United States, Ireland, New Zealand, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Switzerland, South Africa, Thailand, the United Kingdom, and Italy recently took part in a live surgical case conference unlike any ordinary classroom.

Broadcast directly from the operating theatre, the session followed a laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair performed by the hospital's Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery. Beyond observing the procedure in real time, the students were invited to ask questions throughout the operation, discussing diagnosis, treatment decisions, minimally invasive techniques, and surgical practice with the operating surgeons.

With support from our local team, the discussion became an interactive learning experience, offering a closer look not only at the procedure itself but also at the clinical reasoning behind it.

A heartfelt thank you to Ha D**g General Hospital and the Department of Gastrointestinal Surgery for creating such an engaging opportunity for our volunteers. Experiences like these continue to bridge medical education across cultures and healthcare systems.

🌟 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐇𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬

In celebration of the 79th War Invalids and Martyrs’ Day, our Medical High School Special Group joined healthcare staff from Ha D**g General Hospital at a community outreach event, providing free health check-ups for People with Meritorious Services to the Revolution and their kins.

Moving from station to station, the students observed a wide range of examinations, from ENT, dental, and vision screenings to ECGs and ultrasound assessments, gaining a closer look at how each check-up contributes to a patient's overall care. Between consultations, they also helped distribute supplements to the elderly participants, lending an extra pair of hands wherever they were needed.

For many, it was a reminder that healthcare isn't confined to hospital wards. Sometimes, it takes shape in community halls, through prevention, early detection, and the simple act of showing up for those who have given so much.

A sincere thank you to the dedicated team at Ha D**g General Hospital for welcoming our students and allowing them to be part of such a meaningful day of service. 💙

🗺️ 𝐂𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐎𝐮𝐭. 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐜𝐤 𝐈𝐧.

Between placements, evenings, and weekend breaks, Rhianna and Olivia, PT students from Liverpool University, managed to fill their camera rolls with a little more than just work.

One weekend took them to Sa Pa, where mountain views came with a side of go-karts and muddy shoes. Another was spent cruising through the emerald waters of Lan Ha Bay, swapping city traffic for limestone cliffs.

Back in Hanoi, they wandered through the Botanical Garden, stopped by the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, and slowly worked their way through the city one afternoon at a time.

A placement might bring you to Vietnam. What you do after after clocking out is entirely up to you.

📰 '𝐀 𝐂𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐫𝐬'

Some classrooms are built with walls. Others are built with trust, curiosity, and the willingness to meet one another halfway.

We're proud to share a feature co-written by Ngọc Khuê, one of our local volunteers, capturing the time students from Farnborough College of Technology spent at SCIED. Through food-themed activities, sign language, art, and shared laughter, the classroom became a space where communication reached far beyond words.

More than a recap of the programme, it's a reflection on how learning becomes most meaningful when everyone has the chance to participate.

Nestled among the hills of Thai Nguyen, Thai Hai is a living cultural village where the traditions of the Tay people continue to shape everyday life. A visit here isn't about rushing from one attraction to the next, it's about joining in, slowing down, and discovering the stories behind each custom.

🍳 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐊𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐧

After a week of tasting Vietnamese food across Hanoi, the culinary students of Farnborough College of Technology finally got to answer one question:

"𝑺𝒐... 𝒉𝒐𝒘 𝒊𝒔 𝒊𝒕 𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒚 𝒎𝒂𝒅𝒆?"

At Sao Mai Cooking Training Center, they prepared dishes they'd come to know well, from phở and bánh xèo to fresh spring rolls, nộm salads, and Vietnamese beef stew. Along the way came plenty of small discoveries: why some herbs are added at the very end, how a familiar broth takes hours to build, and just how much technique goes into seemingly simple dishes.

The culinary journey ended with an unexpected visit to a nearby wet market, where head chef Trương Công Lệ introduced the ingredients that fill local kitchens every day. Between stalls of fresh herbs, spices, vegetables, and seafood, the students caught a glimpse of where many Vietnamese meals truly begin.

A heartfelt thank you to Chef Lệ and the wonderful team at Sao Mai Cooking Training Center for sharing your knowledge, hospitality, and passion for Vietnamese cuisine. It's an experience our students won't soon forget. 🇻🇳🍽️
