𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓: 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐑𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐒𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐡 𝐋𝐨𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 🩵

AusCham is proud to support the Thanh Loc Project, an initiative that brings essential infrastructure and dignified learning conditions to schools in rural Vietnam. One of its recent beneficiaries, 𝐕𝐢̣ 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐲̉ 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐚𝐮 𝐆𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐞, serves 420 students from grades 6-9, many of whom previously studied in unsafe and restrictive conditions.

Following the 2024 Charity Ball, AusCham provided 𝟏𝟒𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎,𝟎𝟎𝟎 𝐕𝐍𝐃, which was used to address two critical infrastructure needs:
𝟏. 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐬 (𝟑𝟎𝟎𝐦²)
The school’s yard was often submerged under water for most of the year, leaving students confined indoors and exposed to dangerous conditions such as sharp objects and snakes.
The newly constructed concrete elevation now provides:
• A safe outdoor space clear of water and physical hazards
• An area to hold PE lessons, health activities, and student recreation
• A multi-use community space for local events and gatherings

𝟐. 𝐇𝐲𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐜 𝐓𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐁𝐥𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Previously, students and staff were forced to use an unsanitary open area behind tin sheeting.
Through this project, the school now has:
• Flushable toilets
• Clean and dignified facilities
• Improved hygiene and health protection for the entire school community

This investment has transformed not only learning conditions but also the health, safety, and dignity of an entire community.

Thanh Loc Project is back...!

We have started our first construction project in a very long time at Vi Thuy Secondary School, Hau Giang Province.

This project will raise the school ground above the water level as the entire grounds are typically covered in knee deep water during the wet season.

Once the project is finished, the school will have a safe area where the children can play and exercise. During the wet season, school grounds become dangerous areas where children often have accidents, are injured from snake bites, and stepping on sharp objects is a common daily occurrence when walking through the waterlogged school grounds.

The school's toilet facilities will also be significantly more hygienic as a result of the higher grounds meaning the waste will stay where it should and the students and staff will have safe passage to and from the toilet facilities.

This project will also give the local community a space where special ceremonies can be held for school related events, government events, and wider community events.

Often the highest priority for a school is to have their grounds raised above the water level, however, the cost and labour required is too far out of reach for the school to even consider.

We have used our local labour team for this project, as we are still seeking permissions from the government to allow foreign team members to enter the area due to the remoteness of the areas in which we work.

It is a great feeling for all of us here at Thanh Loc Project to be back building critical infrastructure for those less fortunate in some of the most desperate areas in Vietnam.

A huge thank you to Jake Norris and Sean Down from DiBo Charity, and to Australian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam for helping us to raise the money required for this project.

Wow...what a night...! 🎉

Thank you to Australian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam and all of its members for creating the most fun night in Ho Chi Minh City this year...!

All of the funds raised on Saturday night go to these amazing charities who are leading the way in Vietnam providing a decent life for the most vulnerable communities and those who were born unlucky. It was such a pleasure to re-connect with our friends at Blue Dragon Children's Foundation, KOTO Foundation, Heart Reach Australia, The Kianh Foundation and our very own Thanh Loc Project.

Special thanks to the Australian Ambassador to Vietnam Andrew Goledzinowski, along with the Australian Consul General Sarah Hooper who always attend and support our events here in Vietnam...🙏

To Lindsay Nutley and Luc Le, you did it again..! It is just amazing how you can create an event where >90% of the ~400 attendees are up on their feet on the dancefloor for the final 1.50 hours of the night...incredible, so much fun...!

The AusCham Vietnam Charity Ball 2024 is the premier Charity Ball in Saigon, and certainly the most fun...!

Thanh Loc Project is very fortunate to be a charity partner and through the generous support of Australian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam and its members, we have been able to provide 65 years of education to the very poorest students, which includes; 1 year of tuition fees, 1 year of personal health insurance, 1 year of text books, a backpack, 2 new school uniforms (including a belt for the boys and underwear for the girls).

From everyone in the Thanh Loc Project family, we want to say thank you and we look forward to seeing everyone at the Charity Ball on November 30th...🙏🙏🙏

🌱🚀 A Journey in Optimal Living 🚀🌱

👨‍💼 After 21 years running accounting practices as a profession, and the past 6 years serving as the Founder and Executive Director of Stone Accounting Group I’ve always understood the importance of optimal performance. It’s not just about delivering in the boardroom, but also about ensuring that my body and mind are in the best possible shape.

🧑‍⚕️ Over the past 2 years, I have undergone deep research on heart health, optimal food choices, healthy habits, and have now commenced regular blood analysis to gain a clearer understanding of my biomarkers; cells, proteins, hormones, nutrients, and enzymes. The purpose of this pursuit to understanding healthier alternatives goes well beyond my professional life.

🏡 Recognising my roles as a father and grandfather provides me with the privilege of responsibility to my family who need me around for a little while yet…! And this brings me to my home - a tranquil island nestled in the exclusive eco-friendly green zone at Lam Villa - in An Khanh Ward on the banks of the Saigon River. This residence, meticulously designed, serves as a haven for both my personal and family life, but also my professional endeavours with my purpose-built office, boardroom, and corporate entertainment facility.

🚶🏊🏋️ In an effort to extend my longevity, my daily routine includes very early morning walks before the sun comes up, followed by a rejuvenating swim in my saltwater pool, complemented with three light gym sessions per week. These activities, coupled with my passion for reading literature, researching history, and exploring the possibilities of the future, now form the cornerstone of my holistic well-being.

🚶 In line with this philosophy, I’m thrilled to announce that I will be participating in the “Vietnam Charity Walk” - an event that supports the Thanh Loc Project a cause close to my heart which I established here in Vietnam 15 years ago. Although the two men, Jake and Sean, are walking the entire distance from Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City (2000kms over approx. 70 days…!), I will be joining them for just three days to provide some relief, moral support, and to test my own endurance carrying a 10kg pack on my back in the extreme heat.

🥗 To add another layer to this journey, I will be embracing a vegan lifestyle during the three days. It is a wonderful opportunity for me to learn from Jake and Sean, who are strict vegans, and their guidance and insights on food health and performance will be invaluable for me. This conscious choice aligns perfectly with my commitment to balance, compassion, and optimal performance.
