Đến hẹn lại lên, “Khóa đào tạo kỹ năng nghiên cứu thực địa Rùa cạn và rùa nước ngọt lần thứ 21 sẽ được Chương trình Bảo tồn Rùa châu Á (ATP/IMC) phối hợp cùng Vườn quốc gia Cúc Phương tổ chức từ ngày 20-03 đến 30-03-2026.

Đặc biệt, chương trình năm nay có sự tham gia đồng hành của hai đối tác chiến lược: Viện Sinh thái học Miền Nam (SIE) và Viện Nghiên cứu Vườn thú và Động vật hoang dã Leibniz (IZW). Khóa học sẽ tập trung vào các kỹ năng nghiên cứu thực địa chuyên sâu và các kỹ thuật hiện đại. Ban tổ chức sẽ hỗ trợ hoàn toàn học phí và chi phí sinh hoạt tại Vườn Quốc gia cho những học viên trúng tuyển.

A unique chance to learn about the Turtles of Vietnam!The 21st Tortoise and Freshwater Turtle Field Skills

Training Course will be jointly organised by ATP/IMC and Cuc Phuong National Park from 20-03 to 30-03-2026.This year’s programme features the strategic participation of the Southern Institute of Ecology (SIE) and the Leibniz Institute for Zoo and Wildlife Research (IZW), with a primary focus on advanced field research methodologies. Successful candidates will receive full financial support, covering all tuition fees and living expenses within the National Park for the duration of the course. Responsibilities:
Assist in planning, coordinating, and implementing conservation projects

Requirements:

Requirements:
Degree in Veterinary Medicine
Experience with reptiles or wildlife is preferred
Knowledge of animal welfare standards
Compassionate, detail-oriented, and committed to conservation

Chuyển động 24h lên tiếng nâng cao nhận thức bảo vệ rùa: chiều tối ngày 03/04/2025, bản tin chuyển động 24h VTV1 đã đăng phóng sự về tình trạng buôn bán rùa quý hiếm tràn lan trên đường phố tại nhiều thành phố trên khắp cả nước. Công an Tp. Hà Nội và Chi cục Kiểm lâm TP đã điều tra và tịch thu 07 cá thể rùa răng (Heosemys annandalii) bị buôn bán trái phép. Rùa răng là loài cực kỳ nguy cấp (CR) trong sách đỏ thế giới IUCN và bảo vệ bởi pháp luật. Phần 2 của phóng sự sẽ được tiếp tục cập nhật trên bản tin lúc 18:30 chiều tối nay.

Another step forward on awareness for turtle protection:
On the 3rd of April, the "24hr Move" programme of the Vietnam National Television channel presented the first part of a documentary showing the trade in turtles on the streets of many Vietnamese cities. An investigation was undertaken by Hanoi Police and the Forest Protection Department to confiscate 7 yellow headed temple turtles (Heosemys annandalii) from the illegal wildlife trade. This species is listed by the IUCN as Critically Endangered (CR) and in Vietnam is protected under the law. The second part will air on the news today at 18:30...

Vào đúng ngày Giáng sinh vừa qua, một bất ngờ lớn đã tới với Trung tâm bảo tồn rùa Cúc Phương (TCC): những quả trứng của loài ba ba Nam bộ (Amyda ornata) lần đầu tiên đã nở! Ba chú rùa con dễ thương chào đời và đang sinh trưởng tốt tại TCC.
Ba ba Nam bộ là loài rùa mai mềm lớn thứ 3 tại Việt Nam và nằm trong danh sách sắp tuyệt chủng theo đánh giá của tổ chức bảo tồn Thiên nhiên quốc tế (IUCN). Ba ba Nam bộ có phân bố ở khu vực Đông Dương và Thái Lan. Bố mẹ của ba chú rùa con này được giải cứu khỏi nạn buôn bán động vật hoang dã trái phép và đưa về chăm sóc tại ngôi nhà mới ở Trung tâm Bảo tồn Rùa Cúc Phương. Over Christmas last year we came into a great surprise, our Southeast Asian softshell turtle (Amyda ornata) eggs had hatched! Three cute youngsters emerged and have been doing very well over the past few months.
Southeast Asian softshell turtle is the third largest softshell turtle species of Viet Nam, listed as Vulnerable to extinction (IUCN redlist). This species is found across Thailand and Indochina area. The parents of the little ones were rescued from the illegal trade in wildlife and have found sanctuary here at the Turtle Conservation Centre. 🎉(English below) Chúc mừng năm mới đến tất cả mọi người từ Chương trình Rùa châu Á (ATP) và Trung tâm Bảo tồn Rùa (TCC)! Năm 2024 đã mang đến cho chúng tôi rất nhiều sự phấn khích khi lần đầu tiên TCC nhân giống thành công loài đặc hữu của Việt Nam: Rùa hộp trán vàng miền nam (Cuora picturata). Là loài sống trên cạn, thuộc nhóm cực kỳ nguy cấp (theo sách đỏ IUCN, 2020), rùa hộp trán vàng miền nam phân bố trong các khu rừng thường xanh ở độ cao trung bình đến cao tại khu vực nhỏ ở nam trung bộ Việt Nam. Đây là loài rùa ưu tiên bảo tồn của ATP tại Vườn quốc gia Cúc Phương. Mong rằng năm 2025 sẽ mang lại nhiều thành công hơn nữa cho công tác bảo tồn rùa của Việt Nam.

🎉Happy New Year to you all from the Asian Turtle Program and Turtle Conservation Centre! The year 2024 brought us lot of excitement when the first time we bred successfully the endemic species: Southern Vietnamese Box Turtle (Cuora picturata). This critical endangered terrestrial species (IUCN redlist, 2020) occurs in woodlands and evergreen forests at mid- to high elevations in small distribution ranges in south of central Vietnam. Southern Vietnamese Box Turtle is one of our priority species for ex-situ conservation at Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam. We wish that 2025 will bring even more successful actions for conservation of turtles in Vietnam.
