While we’re putting the final touches on preparations for transporting birds from Europe to Vietnam, important work continues on the ground in Vietnam.

The visitor center has been expanded with two new aviaries, where we hope visitors will soon once again be able to observe Vietnamese pheasants within their native range. 🌿🦚

We are looking toward 2026 with high hopes and excitement. We anticipate a year marked by several important milestones, starting with the shipment of Vietnamese pheasants from Europe to Vietnam that should be the founders for the reintroduction project.

A great deal of work has been happening behind the scenes, and we look forward to sharing the outcomes with you in the near future. We’ll keep you informed and wish you a wonderful year ahead.

The plants in the aviaries are growing nicely!

Partners of the project are working hard to bring the first birds to the breeding centre.

In the meantime we spent some time to show Viet Nature staff how to put up perches. Cleared the plants from the sides of the aviaries, so they don't grow through the mesh. We removed as many stones from the aviaries as possible. And we also brought in some tree trunks to provide hiding places.

Overall the aviaries look amazing and are almost ready to receive the birds!

The students from the Chu Van An School that came to visit the breeding centre very kindly sent us some pictures of their field trip reports and exhibition.

The school is a public high school in Hanoi. Established in 1908, Chu Van An is now one of the oldest and most traditional high schools in Vietnam's education system.

The school has more than 2 000 students, of which 71 were present on the Quang Binh trip.

They all said they want to come back to the centre many more times in the future!

Yet another significant milestone has been reached in the project. Last week the first group of students visited the breeding centre. This event represents the official start of the educational part of the project.

We hope that by visiting the centre and the Khe Nuoc Trong Nature Reserve, these students learn about the importance of biodiversity and that this will increase the support for the protection of Vietnam's incredible fauna and flora!

The pictures show some recent updates from the breeding centre.

The office building is now completed and has been taken into use.

The community patrol staff has also been busy planting the aviaries. Can't wait to see what the aviaries will look like once the plants are fully grown!
