SETIA Chairman was honoured to be invited to attend the Majlis Perasmian STAR Karnival Cuti-Cuti Malaysia 2026 – Sabah, held on 15 August 2026 at the Main Concourse, Imago Shopping Mall, Kota Kinabalu.

The event provided a valuable platform to celebrate and promote domestic tourism, while highlighting the diverse tourism offerings and destinations available in Sabah and across Malaysia.

SETIA members were honoured to be invited by the Sabah Tourism Board to attend the Tourism Product Presentation for the Sandakan–Kinabatangan–Sukau Cluster on Friday, 14 August 2026.

**Sabah Tourism Associations Paid Courtesy Visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah**

Representatives from Sabah tourism associations paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah, Datuk Josie Lai, to discuss the impact of the diesel regulations on the tourism industry and to provide feedback on the challenges faced by tourism stakeholders.

The meeting provided a valuable platform for constructive dialogue, allowing industry representatives to share concerns and propose practical solutions to help mitigate the impact of the regulations on tourism businesses. It was a productive and meaningful discussion, and the associations look forward to the continued support of the State Government in addressing the concerns and needs of the affected tourism players.

**SETIA** was represented by its committee member, Mr. Alvin Quek. SETIA successfully organised an informative sharing session for its members in collaboration with **QBE Insurance**, aimed at enhancing members' understanding of insurance protection and risk management within the tourism industry.

The session covered the following topics:

1. Domestic Travel Insurance / Travel Personal Accident (PA)
2. International Travel Insurance
3. Personal Liability Insurance
4. Professional Indemnity Insurance

The session provided valuable insights into the importance of comprehensive insurance coverage for travel agencies, tour operators and tourism professionals. Members also had the opportunity to engage with the QBE Insurance team, gain a better understanding of the available insurance solutions and discuss practical scenarios relevant to their businesses.

SETIA is taking the pro active initiative to organise defensive driving training aimed at significantly enhancing road safety awareness and reducing incident rates. This project is strongly supported by Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment [kePKAS} to make it affordable to interested participants.
Purpose and Benefits
This training will equip our drivers with advanced defensive driving techniques, such as hazard recognition, safe vehicle control and improve reaction times, leading to safer operations and a reduction in accident-related incidents. As studies have shown, defensive driving advances driver awareness and can help maintain a clean driving record.

Kunjungan Hormat SETIA ke KePKAS

Sabah Enhanced Travel Innovation Association (SETIA) telah mengadakan kunjungan hormat kepada Puan Rimi Repin, Timbalan Setiausaha Tetap I, Kementerian Pelancongan, Kebudayaan dan Alam Sekitar Sabah (KePKAS).

Dalam pertemuan ini, SETIA membentangkan pelan strategi jangka panjang dan perancangan aktiviti bagi menyokong pembangunan pelancongan Sabah, yang telah menerima maklum balas positif daripada pihak KePKAS.

SETIA merakamkan penghargaan kepada KePKAS atas kesudian menerima kunjungan ini, serta kepada Sabah Tourism Board, khususnya Puan Halimah Haji Hassan, atas sokongan berterusan.
