EuroCham is financed through our membership fees while the remainder of our operational costs are covered through sponsorship, services and projects we provide and undertake. We do not receive fundin

🙌 What an incredible morning at VinUniversity! For 3 hours, over 60 participants from across academia and industry came together for a dialogue that went far beyond small talk. We covered how Vietnam can better prepare its future workforce to meet international business standards. Special thanks to VinUniversity for co-organising this event and helping bring this important conversation to life, and to Australian Chamber of Commerce Vietnam for being a wonderful co-host.

💡The discussion went beyond the conventional “equation” of maximising university–industry collaboration. It highlighted that the most impactful partnerships are inherently reciprocal, where academia is not merely a talent pipeline, but a strategic partner to industry, one that contributes insights, anticipates emerging trends, and helps businesses navigate future decisions and opportunities.

We closed the event with a tour of VinUniversity's campus, a firsthand look at how the university connects theory to practice, from state-of-the-art labs to collaborative learning spaces.

This is a central finding of EuroCham’s latest Business Confidence Index.

📉 While 𝘁𝘄𝗼-𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗿𝗱𝘀 of European businesses in Vietnam reported 𝗻𝗲𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁, 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗷𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝟭𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗯𝗼𝘁𝘁𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲.

Notably, 𝟭𝟰% 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲 𝗱𝘆𝗻𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗰𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝟮% 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝘁 𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝟯𝟬%. These figures show that while global uncertainty is creating financial pressure for many, it is also opening new opportunities for others.

Beyond the immediate financial impact, businesses are also adjusting how they operate.

🚢 Among companies affected by logistics disruptions, 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗵𝗮𝗹𝗳 (𝟱𝟯%) 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆-𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗯𝘂𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗶𝗺𝗲𝘀, indicating that businesses are moving beyond planning primarily for efficiency and placing greater emphasis on resilience.

More fragmented sourcing networks are also adding to compliance challenges.

⚠️ 𝗡𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝟭 𝗶𝗻 𝟯 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗯𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝘀 reported moderate to significant difficulty complying with 𝗥𝘂𝗹𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗶𝗻, particularly when securing supplier documentation and tracing materials across increasingly complex supply chains.

Taken together, these findings reveal how global disruption is translating into 𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲, 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗮𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘅𝗶𝘁𝘆.

Resilience is fast becoming a core business capability, one that requires additional time, stronger supplier visibility, and closer coordination across the value chain.

From our refreshing team-building trip 🏖️

Watching the sunset, enjoying the ocean air, fighting (civilly) for the Hogwarts cup 🧙, sharing fun stories. Those are just some of the activities we enjoyed during EuroCham yearly team-building trip happening last week.

When the full EuroCham team from both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City reunited, we made it count. This trip has strengthened our connections and allowed us to return with more energy to tackle our next milestones as one !

EuroCham team just came back from our team-building trip, and even though we do miss the beach, we definitely did not miss the opportunity to bridge the European business community and the Vietnamese government.

In fact, for the second time in just three days, EuroCham team met with Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Van Thang, this time to discuss the topic of unlocking credit and financing bottlenecks to support sustainable growth. EuroCham and our Taxation & Transfer Pricing Sector Committee are also pleased to announce the upcoming Business Tax Dialogue with the HCMC Tax Authority taking place between 16 and 18 September (exact date TBC).
