📢 GREAT NEWS FOR 2026: PERSONAL INCOME TAX CUTS – TAKE-HOME PAY ON THE RISE!

The Vietnamese Government has officially enacted the amended Law on Personal Income Tax No. 109/2025/QH15. This is a significant policy shift that helps ease financial pressure on foreign employees while making Vietnam’s education job market even more attractive.

💰 Key changes effective from the 2026 tax year:
1. Higher tax-free income threshold:
- Family deductions have been increased by nearly 41% to better reflect current living costs:
- Personal deduction: Increased to 15.5 million VND/month (previously 11 million VND)
- Dependent deduction: Increased to 6.2 million VND/month (previously 4.4 million VND)
- Benefit: For a teacher with one dependent, the total monthly tax-free deduction can reach 21.7 million VND

2. Simplified progressive tax brackets (reduced to 5 levels)
- This change allows salaried employees to stay in lower tax brackets for longer.
- The highest tax rate of 35% now applies only to taxable income above 100 million VND/month (previously 80 million VND).

3. Higher real take-home income for teachers
- For foreign teachers earning between 40–70 million VND/month, personal income tax is expected to decrease by 10%–20%, resulting in a noticeable increase in monthly net salary.

👉 What you should do:
Check your payslip: Confirm that Accounting/HR has applied the new 15.5 million VND personal deduction starting from the January 2026 payroll.
Update your records: Register all eligible dependents to fully benefit from the 6.2 million VND/month per dependent deduction.
