The Story
"In Vietnam, every hour, 1 child dies from an injury such as drowning or a traffic accident" - UNICEF
Recognizing the danger of unsafe water travel in rural Vietnam, and the lack of participation from young students to address this issue, the Build-A-Bridge Vietnam - High School Student Network for Nam Phuong Foundation was formed in March, 2017, bringing the involvement of High School Students around the world into building bridges in remote areas of the country.
With this added force of young students world-wide, we are able to expand Nam Phuong Foundation’s impact, stay committed to eliminating flimsy self-built bridges, tackle and defeat this ongoing threat.
The network started with one 10th-grader, and has expanded to over 100 members in under a year of operation. We were able to raise enough funds to support Nam Phuong Foundation in constructing its 15th bridge, the Khang Vinh Bridge, in early January, 2018.
