Schools across Vietnam are preparing to welcome children, while teachers at Xuan Quang 1 Preschool, now a branch of Phu Mo Preschool in Dak Lak, are organizing their classrooms and launching meaningful initiatives. After participating in Rise Vietnam’s “Play-based Learning” training course, a group of teachers shared their insights with colleagues who had not yet attended. This effort helps build a strong team committed to implementing play-based learning in the 2026–2027 academic year.

Rise Vietnam values teachers’ willingness to share and support, helping to spread this approach throughout Dak Lak Province. We continue to stand beside you in creating more opportunities for children’s development.

The ASEAN Youth Workshop on SRHR & HIV 2026 brings together youth leaders, healthcare professionals, researchers, and policymakers from across the Asia-Pacific region. The program aims to strengthen youth leadership, promote regional collaboration, and advance knowledge on adolescent health, sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), and HIV.
This is a valuable opportunity for our team to learn, network, and share experiences with peers and professionals from across the region.

Literacy doesn't start in school.

Early childhood is a precious window for building the skills that make reading possible – long before a child ever opens a textbook.

How does play support early literacy? Guided play builds vocabulary through conversation and storytelling. It builds listening and sound awareness through rhymes, songs, and games. It builds print awareness through books woven into everyday play, not drills. And it builds the motivation to want to read — the part no worksheet can teach.

The results speak for themselves: in Ethiopia, 52% of Rise students are better readers than their peers.

🏠[Play at home with your children] 🏡
Part 4: PLAY WITH YOUR CHILD – TO UNDERSTAND THEM AND RECOGNIZE WHAT THEY MIGHT NEED EARLY.

Earlier in this series, we talked about why play matters for your child’s development, how to make playtime at home meaningful, and what to avoid when playing together.

But did you know? 💛
Playtime is also a natural opportunity for parents to observe and better understand their child’s development.

Every child grows and learns in their own way. If you notice your child has lost a skill they used to have, or seems very different from other kids their age, it might be worth watching more closely and talking to a professional. (See the resource: Signs that a Child May Need Early Intervention/Professional Assessment.)

⚠️ Importantly: A single sign does not necessarily mean that a child has a developmental concern. Parents can continue to observe and document their child’s development, and seek professional advice when concerns persist or become more noticeable.

Finding concerns early is not about putting a label on your child.
It’s about understanding your child sooner, giving support earlier, and helping families find the best options and resources.
Sometimes, the first step for parents is not a complicated assessment.

👉 Start by playing with your child.
- Observe how they play.
- Listen to how they communicate.
- Encourage them to try.
- And explore the world together in their own unique way. 💛

Every time we play with our children, we get another chance to understand them better.

🌱We believe a program achieves lasting impact when the community takes ownership and shares the model with others.🌱

Since the inception of the Play-based Learning program, our primary objective has been to ensure that knowledge is applicable to the entire community. This objective is now being realized more and more in Dak Lak province.

Continuing to scale up the program by the local community members, in August, our Core Group - the local teachers in Dak Lak trained the Play-based Learning model for 98 new teachers from six other preschools in O Loan and Tuy An Nam communes independently. This outcome aligns with our original vision for the program. We believe true sustainable development depends not on the number of training sessions, but on the community’s ability to maintain these practices independently.

When individuals, schools, and communities continue to share the program model, it extends beyond training and lays the foundation for transforming early childhood education.

And the journey of spreading Play-based Learning continues. ❤️

Mr. Sơn has been selected as a Youth Champion 2026 by the Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood (ARNEC).

This is a great opportunity for Sơn to learn, share ideas, and advocate for climate change awareness and its effects on children and communities. As part of this journey, Sơn will develop an initiative to integrate climate change education into early childhood education through play-based learning. This direction closely connects with Rise Vietnam’s ongoing efforts to promote play-based learning and create meaningful, child-centered learning opportunities for young children.

We’re proud to support Sơn as he shares his ideas at a broader level. Investing in our team helps us grow and better serve children, families, and communities.

We’ll support Sơn throughout this journey and look forward to seeing how his ideas bring climate change education to more young children through play.

✨Part 3: Things to Avoid When Playing with Children at Home!✨

In this post, we will talk about Things to Avoid When Playing with Children at Home!
We all recognize that effective play can support and promote children’s development across all five developmental domains (which we discussed in Part 1) in a natural and meaningful way. But how can we create truly quality playtime?

Quality playtime with your child does not mean that you have to spend an entire day or even a whole morning or afternoon playing together, especially when you have many other responsibilities at work or are distracted by your phone. What matters is setting aside at least ⏰15 minutes each day when you can be fully present and engaged in playing, talking, and role-playing with your child.

To make playtime less stressful for both children and caregivers, let’s try to avoid the following:
❌Avoid asking inappropriate or unnecessary questions during play.
❌Avoid giving commands during playtime.
❌Avoid criticizing your child while playing.
❌Avoid focusing too much on small details or mistakes during play.
