✨ CELEBRATING INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PLAY ✨

On 25 March 2024, the United Nations General Assembly adopted Resolution A/RES/78/268, proclaiming 11 June as the International Day of Play. It marked the first time that a United Nations observance day had been formally dedicated to play.

💛 2026 Theme: Protect Play, Protect Childhood

Through play, children learn to build connections with others, develop leadership skills, strengthen resilience, navigate relationships and social challenges, and overcome their fears. When children play, they feel safe. Play helps children make sense of the world around them and provides a platform for expressing imagination and creativity—essential skills in today's technology-driven and innovation-focused world.

At Rise Vietnam, our programs are designed to create environments, provide resources, and develop learning experiences that increase opportunities for play in early childhood settings while encouraging meaningful play interactions between children and their parents or caregivers.

On this special day, we join the global community in affirming that every child has the right to play, to learn, and to thrive in a safe, positive, and joyful environment.

We are truly proud that Mara Lee Durrell, the CEO of Rise Alliance for Children, had the honor of participating in a discussion session on shaping pathways for scaling up with governments in the context of early childhood education.

This reflects our strong commitment and deep concern for the development of early childhood education, not only within the region but also around the world.

After receiving training and ongoing support through the “Play for Learning and Thriving” project, teachers at Hiep Thanh Preschool in Tay Ninh Province (formerly Long An) proactively designed and independently organized the “Play for Learning and Thriving Festival” at their own preschool, adapting the activities to the local context and the actual needs of children. This reflects the core value of the project — not only creating short-term activities, but also building the capacity of schools to sustain and further develop these practices in the future.

From the initial activities, the model has gradually expanded and become part of children’s everyday learning environment, contributing to sustainable values in early childhood education within the local community.

✨ Sustainable Development Through a Community-Based Approach ✨

In early childhood care and education, sustainability involves both the longevity of programs and the capacity of educators and communities to adapt and enhance the model to meet local children's needs.

In line with this approach, the “Play for Learning and Thriving” training program took place on May 9 and 10 in Đắk Lắk, using a community-based methodology. Notably, a core group of experienced local teachers, trained in the model since its inception, led and organized the sessions.

Through this peer-to-peer training, the core team introduced the program to eight additional schools, reaching approximately 67 teachers. In addition to disseminating play-based learning methods, the training facilitated the establishment of a local teacher network. This network will enable educators to support one another, engage in collaborative learning, and share best practices to benefit children in the future.

Rise believes that building local capacity and skills is essential for lasting change for children and communities. Ongoing support from donors, partners, and local stakeholders has been vital to the model’s growth and expansion in Đắk Lắk.

We sincerely appreciate the dedication of the core teacher team in Đắk Lắk, whose ongoing efforts foster an environment where children can play, learn, and thrive.

Let's enjoy the inspired, playful moments from the “Play for Learning and Thriving” training days, led by the Core group in Dak Lak province.🥰

Beyond the weekly rhythm of play-based activities, Ea Cha Rang Preschool bursts into celebration each year with the vibrant “Play for Learning and Thriving Festival.” As one of the first schools in Dak Lak Province to champion Rise Vietnam’s “Play for Learning and Thriving” project, the school continues to nurture its vision, backed by enthusiastic support from both the school community and local leaders. By weaving play into every aspect of learning, this approach sparks growth in children’s holistic development—physically, cognitively, emotionally, and socially—through the philosophy of “learning through play, playing through learning.”

Join Rise Vietnam in spreading this meaningful initiative to more communities across Vietnam. ❤️
