Nearly a decade later, and it still feels like yesterday. ✨

𝗟𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝘇𝗺𝗮𝗿 (𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟱) recently returned to campus, proudly guiding her partner and friends through the halls of UNIS Hanoi. Having attended from Grade 4 to Grade 9, Lily easily navigated campus, pointing out her old classrooms and recalling the unique pride of attending one of only two United Nations schools in the world.

No matter how many years pass or how far our alumni travel, campus will always be home. Welcome back, Lily!

𝗪𝗲𝗹𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸, 𝗗𝗿 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿! 🎸🌟

This week, UNIS Hanoi was honored to welcome our longest-serving Head of School (2008–2018) back to campus for a huge milestone: the 10th convening of GALTI (Governance as Leadership Training Institute), which he helped found right here a decade ago.

Yesterday was extra special as our Elementary students got to meet Dr Barder and enjoy his signature talent—singing and playing the guitar! 🎶 Our faculty and staff also loved catching up with him throughout the day.

Once a Phoenix, always a Phoenix! 🔥

What brings an alumni family straight back to the UNIS Hanoi school shop after five years?

For 𝗠𝗶𝘆𝗼𝗸𝗼 𝗧𝘀𝘂𝘁𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗶 (𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗦 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗻𝘁), it was a mix of nostalgia, love for our community, and a mission to grab a few essential items. During her recent visit to Hanoi, stopping by the shop to pick up a water bottle and water-resistant bag was a top priority.

As Miyoko shared, sure—you can buy merchandise anywhere. But nothing quite compares to the quality and memories attached to original UNIS swag. We are so grateful for the lasting connection our alumni families keep with UNIS Hanoi.

Once a Phoenix, always a Phoenix!

Look who’s back and have fun! 🎒✨

It was great having 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗲𝘆𝗲𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸 (𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱) drop by to revisit their favorite spots and catch up with their favorite teachers.

Visiting Hanoi soon and want to walk down memory lane? We’d love to welcome you back!

𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗿𝗰𝗵: 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗰𝗮 𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗕𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗸 (𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟰) 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗝𝘂𝗻𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗛𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀

When Grade 5 students Zoe and Khoi selected Ancient Egypt as the focus of their PYP Exhibition research, they received guidance from someone uniquely qualified to help: alumna Jessica van den Brink (Class of 2014), now pursuing a PhD in Ancient Cultures at the University of Pretoria in South Africa.
Connecting virtually with the students, Jessica shared insights into pyramids, hieroglyphs, and archaeological research while encouraging curiosity and critical thinking.

This cross-generational collaboration proved deeply rewarding for both sides. While the students loved learning from a knowledgeable alum who once sat in their very same classrooms, Jessica found the experience eye-opening, noting how inspiring it was to get a sneak peek into the minds of future historians.
See how alumni continue to inspire learning across our global community."

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻? 🎨✨

We were delighted to have 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘂 𝗡𝗴𝘂𝘆𝗲𝗻, 𝗕𝗮𝗼 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝘂 𝗡𝗴𝘂𝘆𝗲𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗮 𝗧𝗲𝗼 (𝗖𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱) on campus yesterday. Returning after their first year at top institutions like the London School of Economics (LSE) and University of the Arts London (UAL), they joined our art class to mentor high school students.

Their session covered portfolio preparation and managing the transition to university life in London, giving our students authentic, firsthand insights into their prospective paths.

We are so proud of our alumni for taking the time to give back to the UNIS Hanoi community!

Recently, 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝗮 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲𝘄 (𝗯𝗲𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗱 𝗘𝗦 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗿 & 𝗣𝗬𝗣𝗫 𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿, 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟰–𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟭) paid our campus a heartwarming visit and reminded us about this amazing project.

Back in 2018, Tina mentored a group of Grade 5 students, the "Plastic Ocean Warriors" (Rei, Lily, Olivia, and Amara), who were so moved by the documentary 𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰 𝗢𝗰𝗲𝗮𝗻 that they worked to make it accessible to all of Vietnam. Together with a dedicated team of UNIS Hanoi staff (Ms An, Ms Thuy, Ms Huong, Ms Nguyen, Ms Le, and Ms Dung), they finalised official Vietnamese subtitles for the film.

Their passion didn't stop there. It helped drive UNIS Hanoi to become a single-use-plastic-free campus in August 2019!
