As we head into the weekend, we can celebrate with twelve blind and visually impaired members of the Hun Yen Blind Association! They proudly graduated from a 2-week massage technology course on 21 May. They learned how to use modern electronic, bioelectrical and electrotherapy massage machines and methods.

While the project procured the machines to be used at the Blind Association training center, those doing massage elsewhere now will be seeking to acquire machines when they can afford to add them to their work locations.

ADRA is happy for the great ongoing collaboration and partnership with the Hung Yen Blind Association who is the key partner helping to implement the SMILE project thanks to generous funding through the Southeastern Asia Union Mission.

From a young age, Hoang Thi Linh understood that education was the key to changing her future. Linh grew up watching her parents work tirelessly every day. Her father worked as a construction laborer, her mother worked in the fields, and her disabled grandfather depended on the family’s care.

Despite financial difficulties, Linh never gave up on her dream of studying. After school, she helped her parents with household chores like cooking and feeding the chickens before returning to her books at night.

In 2019, Linh’s family joined a Community Development Club supported through a project implemented by ADRA. Soon after, she received a scholarship from a generous Korean sponsor, which gave Linh the opportunity to buy school supplies and clothes she previously could not afford.

With renewed motivation, Linh worked even harder in school. During her four years at a boarding lower secondary school, she became an excellent student and an exemplary team member. Beyond academics, she actively participated in athletics competitions, and school events, earning the love and respect of both teachers and friends.

But what makes Linh truly inspiring is her dream: to become a teacher in the highlands and bring knowledge to children in remote areas. When asked about her future plans, Linh shared:
“I will try to study well... I hope time will pass quickly so that I can graduate soon and go to work, to reduce the burden on my parents.”

Hoang Thi Linh is supported through the Child Sponsorship Program funded by ADRA Korea — a reminder that with encouragement, opportunity, and determination, dreams can grow even in the most difficult circumstances.

From a small mountainous village in Cao Bằng, Linh once stood on the edge of giving up her education. When she entered a Vocational Training School far from home, the cost of rent, meals, and class fees—things many take for granted—became overwhelming for her farming family.

Then, a scholarship from ADRA changed everything.

It didn’t just help Linh stay in school. It reminded her that she is seen, supported, and not alone. With renewed strength, she continues her journey—in grade 11 now—holding onto a dream that is both simple and powerful: to become a teacher and bring knowledge back to children in her mountainous hometown who face the same struggles she once did.

One scholarship. One life changed. And in the future, countless more to be inspired.
