🇱🇦🌱 ECOTHON in Lao PDR 2025 successfully took place on September 23 in Vientiane Capital!

Co-hosted by the Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam together with our partners*, this 6th edition brought together 35 inspiring teams, with 10 finalists presenting innovative and sustainable business ideas to shape a more sustainable future. We are happy to announce this year’s winners:

👏🎉 Congratulations to the winners! The 1st and 2nd place startups will be invited to the ASEAN Circular Economy Forum in Kuala Lumpur this October 2025.

The first Demo Day of the Ecothon 2025 - Ecothon in the Philippines took place in Makati City last Thursday 🤩

🎉🎉 Congratulations to three winners of Ecothon in the Philippines 2025

🥇 First prize winner: Nascent Technologies with the next-generation sodium-ion battery technology setting a new benchmark for safe, sustainable energy storage
🥈 Second prize winner: Haraya who produces nanotechnology-based banana fertilizer that boosts nutrient absorption and reduces agricultural waste.
🥉 Third prize winner: FilRobotics Technologies with AGROTIS Navigation System, a GPS-guided autonomous tractor solution that raises rice-farming productivity.

We congratulate all winners and appreciate the enthusiastic participation and the great determination to tackle both social and environmental problems of all competing teams. We wish you all the success and fulfilment towards your goals 🍀

🌏 Strengthening Regional Dialogue on Youth Empowerment and Biodiversity

Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam Mr. Michael Siegner met with Dr. Jerome L. Montemayor, Executive Director of the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), at the ACB headquarters in Los Baños, Philippines.

The discussion was about Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam’s regional work on youth participation in climate change governance and biodiversity conservation—highlighting the importance of empowering young people to take an active role in shaping sustainable futures across ASEAN.

✨Tăng cường ngoại giao nghị viện tại Việt Nam!

Trong hai ngày 23 và 24 tháng 8 năm 2025, Văn phòng Quốc hội và Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam phối hợp tổ chức hội thảo “Nâng cao năng lực công chức tham mưu, phục vụ hoạt động đối ngoại của Quốc hội trong bối cảnh tinh gọn, sắp xếp lại bộ máy các cơ quan phục vụ Quốc hội” tại TP Hạ Long.

Sau hai ngày làm việc tích cực tại hội thảo, các đại biểu là công chức của Văn phòng Quốc hội đã gặt hái được nhiều kinh nghiệm thực tiễn và góc nhìn mới mẻ trong việc thúc đẩy công tác đối ngoại và ngoại giao nghị viện của Việt Nam 🌐.

✨ Strengthening parliamentary diplomacy in Vietnam!

On 23–24 August 2025, the Office of the National Assembly and Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam co-organized a workshop in Ha Long City on enhancing the efficiency of international cooperation within the ongoing internal restructuring plan.

Over two insightful days, ONA officials gained practical skills and fresh perspectives on advancing Vietnam’s role in parliamentary diplomacy. 🌐

💻Ngày hôm qua, Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam phối hợp cùng Viện Chiến lược và Khoa học pháp lý thuộc Bộ Tư pháp đã tổ chức hội thảo quốc tế về phát triển pháp luật đối với hợp đồng thông minh tại Việt Nam.

⚖️ Gần 50 các nhà hoạch định chính sách, học giả pháp lý, công ty luật và chuyên gia đã cùng nhau thảo luận về khái niệm hợp đồng thông minh, sự khác biệt so với hợp đồng truyền thống cũng như khung pháp lý hiện hành của Việt Nam. Giáo sư Hilgendorf từ Khoa Luật, Đại học Universität Würzburg, đã chia sẻ những góc nhìn giá trị từ châu Âu và Đức, nhấn mạnh các tình huống thực tiễn cũng như những thách thức lớn trong việc ứng dụng hợp đồng thông minh.

📜 Nằm trong khuôn khổ Chương trình Đối thoại về Nhà nước pháp quyền Đức–Việt Nam, hội thảo không chỉ giúp nâng cao hiểu biết chuyên môn mà còn tăng cường sự tin tưởng, thúc đẩy học hỏi lẫn nhau và khuyến khích hợp tác lâu dài giữa hai quốc gia. Thông qua việc trao đổi ý tưởng và kinh nghiệm, hai bên có thêm nền tảng vững chắc để xây dựng các khung pháp lý hỗ trợ chuyển đổi số của Việt Nam phù hợp với tiêu chuẩn toàn cầu.

💻Yesterday, Hanns Seidel Foundation Vietnam, together with the Institute for Legal Strategy and Science of the Ministry of Justice, held an international workshop on the legal development of smart contracts in Vietnam.

⚖️ Around 50 policymakers, legal scholars, law firms, and experts discussed what smart contracts are, how they differ from traditional contracts, and Vietnam’s current legal framework. Prof. Hilgendorf from the Law Faculty of the Universität Würzburg shared valuable European and German perspectives, highlighting best practices and key challenges in applying smart contracts.

📜 As part of the Germany–Vietnam Rule of Law Dialogue Programme, the workshop not only deepened technical understanding—it also strengthened trust, fostered mutual learning, and encouraged ongoing cooperation between the two countries. By exchanging ideas and experiences, both sides are better equipped to shape legal frameworks that will support Vietnam’s digital transformation in line with global standards.
