🌏📊 Vietnam’s Financial Markets 2024 – Insights from VGU Students

Proud to share that students from the Vietnamese-German University (VGU) have just completed a comprehensive research report analyzing Vietnam’s financial market in 2024.

The study dives into key areas including:
🔹 Money Market – Lending and deposit rates fell sharply, reflecting an accommodative policy to stimulate growth.
🔹 Government Bonds – Strong issuance growth (14.6% YoY), with a shift toward longer maturities to ensure fiscal sustainability.
🔹 Credit Market – Lending expanded 15.8% by year-end, with green credit and high-tech enterprises seeing strong gains, though risks from real estate and NPLs persist.
🔹 Stock Market – VN-Index rose 12.1%, led by booming Technology (+207%) and Telecom (+200%) sectors, while real estate lagged.
🔹 Foreign Exchange – VND depreciated ~5%, yet remained within manageable levels as SBV maintained flexibility amid global volatility.

Beyond numbers, the report highlights structural challenges:
⚠️ Attracting foreign investment amid shifting global monetary policies
⚠️ Real estate vulnerabilities and legal bottlenecks
⚠️ The urgent need for sustainable debt management and climate adaptation

At the same time, opportunities are emerging in AI-driven finance, digital transformation, and Vietnam’s role in regional supply chains.
