SINCE MARCH OF 2011 OUR TEAM HAS RESCUED OVER 3000 DOGS FROM HIGH-KILL, RURAL SHELTERS IN AL, FL, GA, LA, NC, SC, TX, KY AND WV AND FOUND THEM GREAT FOREVER HOMES. We are a 501(c)3 volunteer-run nonprofit of rescuers, fosters, and volunteers who work together to rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for sweet, loving, adoptable dogs from high-kill pounds in the rural south. Upon rescue, we spay/neu

ter, vaccinate, test for heartworm, provide flea and heartworm preventatives, and deworm. We also treat illnesses, such as heartworm and necessary surgeries for dogs with serious injuries. Badass has no shelter space and relies on our dedicated foster families to house, care for, and train our dogs before adoption. This 2021, we achieve a major milestone: ten years of rescue. We’re on the ground in Dominica saving as many dogs as possible. We need YOUR help.

Meet Roseau 💚 This sweet 3-year-old boy has spent years waiting in a shelter for his chance at a better life.

When we first met Roseau, there was a sadness in his eyes that broke our hearts. The kind of look that makes you wonder what he’s been through.

And sadly, the answer is: too much. Roseau was found wandering the streets with a large wound on his head after being struck with a cutlass. His offense? Chasing a chicken.

Thankfully, he was taken in by the island’s only shelter, where staff worked tirelessly to save his life. Today, Roseau is mostly healed, though the scars on his body remain as reminders of everything he’s survived.

But Roseau isn’t defined by his past. Like a true Badass, he remains incredibly sweet.

During our photoshoot, it quickly became clear that Roseau’s favorite place wasn’t in front of the camera…it was curled up in Maria’s lap. Despite everything he’s endured, this boy still wants affection. He still wants connection. He still wants to trust.

Roseau is named after the capital city of Dominica, and he represents exactly why we’re on this rescue mission.

Badass Animal Rescue has committed to bringing Roseau and 17 other deserving dogs to New York, where they’ll receive medical care, foster homes, and the opportunity to find loving families.

💚 We’re raising $20,000 to provide veterinary care, medical treatment, transportation, supplies, and resources for these deserving dogs.

A generous donor is matching the first $5,000. Meaning your donation will be DOUBLED right now!

We’re on a mission this week to raise $20,000 in order to be able to rescue 18 dogs from an urgent situation on the island of Dominica.

Named after a small songbird native to the Caribbean, Caribbean Elaenia may be tiny, but she certainly knows how to make an impression.

This adorable 4-year-old girl stole our hearts instantly...and we’re pretty sure she’ll steal yours, too.

Friendly, affectionate, and full of personality, Caribbean Elaenia’s favorite place seems to be in someone’s arms.

During our time with her, she happily settled in to be held like a baby, soaking up every bit of attention she could get.

While she still needs a little work on leash training, she’s incredibly sweet and eager to connect with people. The kind of dog who makes herself comfortable in your lap within minutes of meeting you.

Just look at that face.

After spending years waiting for a chance at a better life, Caribbean Elaenia is finally getting one. We can’t wait for her to arrive in New York and begin her next chapter...but first, we need your help to get her here.

💚Can you help us reach our $5,000 goal here on Instagram?
🏡We also urgently need foster homes.

Meet our newest Badass: Emerald Pool 💚 And yes, she's every bit as sweet as she looks.

When we first met Emerald Pool at the shelter in Dominica, she was understandably a little nervous. But after spending some time with her, she realized she was safe.

What happened next melted our hearts.

She curled up beside our Executive Director, Krista, as rain began to fall. She leaned in for comfort. She looked up with trust. And as our time together went on, this gentle girl relaxed more and more, eventually giving us the sweetest little smile.

Badass rescue dogs are special.

We don't know much about Emerald Pool's life before she arrived at the island's only shelter. We don't know what she's experienced or how long she's been waiting.

But we do know this: She is incredibly kind. She loves people. And she deserves so much more than life in a shelter.

Badass Animal Rescue has committed to bringing Emerald Pool to New York as part of our Saving Dogs of Dominica rescue mission, but we need your help to get her here.

🏡 Emerald Pool needs a foster home.

💚 And we're raising $20,000 to provide veterinary care, medical treatment, transportation, supplies, and resources for Emerald Pool and 17 other deserving dogs.

It costs Badass an average of $950 to save just one dog.

Can you donate $5 today to help us reach our fundraising goal and give Emerald Pool the future she's been waiting for?

The first dog we’d like to introduce you to is a very special girl. In fact, she’s the namesake of this entire rescue mission: Meet Dominica.

At just 3 years old, Dominica has already survived more hardship than most dogs should ever experience in a lifetime. When she was a puppy, someone poured Gramoxon, a highly toxic chemical herbicide, on her.

The attack left her with permanent scarring down her back. The physical wounds have healed, but the scars remain. Despite everything she’s endured, Dominica remains one of the happiest, most affectionate dogs we’ve ever met.

She greets people with full-body wiggles, eager kisses, and an enthusiasm for human connection that is nothing short of remarkable. She wants to be close to you. She wants to be loved. She wants to trust.

And somehow, despite being failed so deeply by humans, she still does.

Dominica quickly became a favorite among the shelter staff in Dominica, and after spending time with her, we completely understand why. The shelter team poured their hearts into saving her life, nursing her back to health and giving her the chance she deserved.

Now it’s our turn.

Badass Animal Rescue has committed to bringing Dominica to New York, where she can finally leave shelter life behind and begin the next chapter of her journey. She’ll need continued medical care, a loving foster home, and eventually a forever family who sees her for what she truly is: A survivor. A fighter. A really, really good dog.

But we can’t save Dominica and dogs like her without your support.

This week, our content is going to look a little different.

Badass Animal Rescue is embarking on one of the most urgent rescue missions in our organization’s history.

Over the next two weeks, we’ll be introducing you to 18 dogs from the Caribbean island of Dominica that Badass has committed to saving.

Many of these dogs have survived abuse, neglect, injuries, and years of waiting in a shelter with little hope of adoption. Now, they finally have a chance at a better life.

But we can’t do it alone.

To make this mission possible, we urgently need:

💚 Foster Homes
💚 Donations
💚 Future Adopters
💚 People willing to share their stories

Together, we can give these dogs the second chance they’ve been waiting for.

Today’s update on Jane Goodall is brought to you by one very important discovery:

Jane has discovered that having people around is the best. Thing. Ever. 🤍

Lately, she’s been greeting her foster family each morning with excited little barks—something that would have been hard to imagine when she first arrived. For a dog who is typically so calm, it’s a sweet reminder of how comfortable and happy she feels in a home.

And the affection doesn't stop there.

Recently, Jane "collected" her foster's sleep mask from the nightstand and carried it off like a prized possession. We're not entirely sure what her plan was, but it was equal parts adorable and hilarious.

At 9.5 years old, Jane continues to be everything we love about senior dogs. She's gentle, easygoing, and endlessly adaptable. Whether she's solving treat puzzles, accompanying her humans to an outdoor restaurant, or heading out for one of her daily walks, she approaches life with quiet confidence and impeccable manners.

She's also one of those rare dogs who seems genuinely interested in being part of whatever you're doing. Jane thrives on routine, loves learning patterns, and has a remarkable ability to fit seamlessly into daily life. No drama. No chaos. Just a steady, loving companion who's happiest sharing her days with people she trusts.

And that's what makes Jane so special.

Not every dog arrives in your life with fireworks. Some arrive with soft eyes, a wagging tail, and a sleep mask they mysteriously borrowed because it smelled like someone they love.
