Badass Animal Rescue is a non-profit 501(c)3, all-breed dog rescue based in Brooklyn, NY. Badass Animal Rescue is an all-breed dog rescue based in Brooklyn, NY.

SINCE MARCH OF 2011 OUR TEAM HAS RESCUED OVER 3000 DOGS FROM HIGH-KILL, RURAL SHELTERS IN AL, FL, GA, LA, NC, SC, TX, KY AND WV AND FOUND THEM GREAT FOREVER HOMES. We are a 501(c)3 volunteer-run nonprofit of rescuers, fosters, and volunteers who work together to rescue, rehabilitate, and find homes for sweet, loving, adoptable dogs from high-kill pounds in the rural south. Upon rescue, we spay/neuter, vaccinate, test for heartworm, provide flea and heartworm preventatives, and deworm. We also treat illnesses, such as heartworm and necessary surgeries for dogs with serious injuries. Badass has no shelter space and relies on our dedicated foster families to house, care for, and train our dogs before adoption. This 2021, we achieve a major milestone: ten years of rescue. 🎶 Here you come again… 🎶

Dolly PAWton is back for , and our 9-pound country queen has been busy proving that underneath that tiny, slightly shy exterior is a whole lotta love. 💖

At 7 years old, Dolly is still relatively new to Badass, which means we're getting to know a little more about her every week. And like her namesake, she's making it very easy to fall in love.

Recently, Dolly spent a weekend with a temp foster. On day one, she was nervous and shaking, understandably unsure about yet another new place. Just 24 hours later? She was cozied up on the couch, happily accepting pets and giving her foster plenty of love in return.

That's Dolly. She might need a minute to take you in, but give her a little patience and she'll show you just how sweet she is.

She's also been making the adoption event rounds, where she's been curious, engaged, and content around people and other dogs. In her regular foster home, she lives peacefully with a puppy and cats, and she's done well with humans of all ages. We suspect she doesn't hear particularly well, which can sometimes make her seem a little aloof when you first say hello. Stick around, though, and she'll happily accept your attention.

Her favorite pastime remains prancing around the neighborhood on her tiny Chihuahua legs. But when she's not out on tour, Dolly prefers the simpler things: relaxing at home, cuddling, and snacks. Lots of snacks. She's been known to jump for food, and frankly, at 7 years old, we support doing whatever brings you joy.

All in all, she’s a remarkably easygoing little dog who's gentle, goofy, friendly, and increasingly comfortable letting her personality shine.

Dolly Parton once sang, “I will always love you.” And we just know her person is sure to receive a lifetime of love.

After weeks of sharing scary updates, cautious optimism, and small victories, this , we get to share something pretty wonderful:

Jane Goodall is feeling good. Like, really good.

9.5-year-old Jane has been happy, energetic, and increasingly interested in everything happening around her. She wants attention. She wants cuddles. She wants walks. And she wants her “babies”—the stuffed animals she’s taken to carrying around the house before settling down with them for a nap.

She’s also back to her old hobby of “collecting” her humans’ belongings. Her latest acquisition? Her foster’s hat, which mysteriously relocated while she was at the grocery store. We’ll let you decide whether that was theft or an expression of love.

And apparently, Jane is feeling well enough to add “protector” to her résumé.

Normally when her foster comes home, Jane stays put and greets her with a wiggle of her little nub. But when her foster recently knocked something over and yelled in surprise, Jane LEAPT up and rushed to the entryway, fully prepared to handle the emergency.

After everything this girl has been through, seeing that spark come roaring back feels especially sweet.

A recent temp foster described Jane as “absolute perfection.” She was spotless in the house, wonderful on leash, peaceful with the resident dog, friendly with new people, and completely unfazed by the usual city soundtrack. Her ideal day involves leisurely sniffing around plants and flowers, followed by plenty of cuddling and relaxing at home.

It’s hard to believe that not long ago, Jane was fighting for her life after three emergency surgeries, blood transfusions, and days in the hospital.

Now she’s dreaming so hard that her little legs look like they’re running.

She’s rushing to make sure her people are okay.

She’s getting to be Jane again.

There are still medical hurdles ahead, including heartworm treatment when she’s ready. But this week, we don’t want to dwell on what comes next.

We just want to celebrate how far she’s come.

Keep going, Jane. We love watching you come back to life. 🤍

How is this 9-year-old GLOW girl still waiting for her person? ⚡️

This , Justine Biagi is back in the spotlight—and we’d really, really like this to be the post that helps her find her forever home.

Justine has been back with Badass since 2025, after spending several years in a home. And while we’re grateful she’s safe and loved with our boarding partner, this mature lady deserves something more permanent: her own spot on the couch, her own toy collection, and humans she can count on for good.

At 62 pounds, Justine is a laid-back housemate with a surprisingly playful streak. She loves fetch. She goes all-in on tug-of-war. She’s a big fan of water. And toys? Consider them her love language. Once she’s comfortable, the cool exterior gives way to a goofy, affectionate girl who knows how to have a very good time.

She also genuinely enjoys other dogs and comes with some pretty impressive grown-up credentials: she’s house trained, crate trained, and good on leash.

Like the punk-rock GLOW character she’s named after, Justine has always done things a little differently. She takes a moment to decide how she feels about new people, and she has a few quirks that will benefit from an experienced adopter who understands how to give a dog structure, consistency, and room to succeed.

But Justine isn’t looking for everyone.

She’s looking for someone who gets her.

Someone who appreciates an independent streak. Someone who knows that trust earned can be even sweeter than affection given instantly. Someone ready to discover just how funny, cuddly, playful, and loyal this girl can be once she knows she’s home.

Justine has spent enough time waiting in the wings.
