I'm so sorry for being MIA for a while, life was so busy at home and with work. We are now back to working on getting this organization up and running.
🩵Updates on the El Faro Ninos para Cristo Project.🩵
We finally have a coordinator for the construction of the kids bathroom and showers. Here's a video of their current bathroom. The orphanage has 1 bathroom with 3 toilets and 2 shower stalls. For them to optimize their government fundings for food and other basic necessities, they need to have 5 toilets, 5 showers and 5 sinks. So we coordinated with Leonella and Aneury to get a contractor to extend/enlarge the bathroom area to accommodate 5 toilets, sinks and shower stalls with doors. I also requested 2 lower sinks for little ones. The orphanage takes care of babies and kids up to 18 year old.
The cost of the project is $2600!! YES, that's ALL to make a HUGE difference in the 30+ kids at El Faro Ninos. We are extremely grateful to Leonella and her cousin Aneury for helping us coordinating this. We already collected $700 from the Mom's night back in April. Thank you to all who donated.
All donations before were kept by Kathleen and will be disbursed for Christmas to buy the kids their much needed food suplies- rice, beans and oats.
We won't be accepting donations until we have the bank account set up. But if you would like to start collecting clothes and toys, please do and we will start collecting them towards the beginning of December.
Thank you all for your patience as I navigate the logistics of this project. This year we are providing a working bathroom and showers to an orphanage in Dominican Republic, next year will be another Caribbean island. Any suggestions?
