A single Rotary donation can feel small, but The Rotary Foundation has a remarkable way of turning that gift into meaningful, large‑scale impact. It’s the engine behind Rotary’s work worldwide, and here’s the streamlined version of how that engine runs.
Every contribution goes into one of three funds. The Annual Fund invests donations for three years before spending them, ensuring long‑term sustainability for future projects. The Endowment Fund is preserved permanently, only the earnings are used to secure Rotary’s future. And the PolioPlus Fund is dedicated exclusively to finishing the job of eradicating polio.
From there, the Foundation channels those resources into seven major areas of focus, from clean water to education to environmental protection.
Clubs access this funding through two main avenues. District Grants support quick, flexible projects that meet local needs, while Global Grants fuel large, sustainable international initiatives that require partnership and measurable outcomes.
It’s a simple, powerful cycle: we give, the Foundation invests and safeguards those contributions, and then the funds return to districts and clubs so Rotarians can create lasting change in communities near and far.
