Cruzan Cowgirls Horse Rescue is dedicated to improving the lives of the horses on St. Croix USVI. We are a 501c.3 approved non profit.

Cruzan Cowgirls Horse Rescue is currently a privatized, not-for-profit, no-kill horse rescue which will, in the future, be primarily supported by income created via Cruzan Cowgirls Horseback Riding Tours as well as donations from our community and supporters. The refuge intends to provide sanctuary for retired racehorses, homeless horses and abused horses on St Coix, USVI. Each of the horses is given an evaluation at the time of acceptance to assess their individual needs. Some require veterinary care, routine vaccinations, worming, external parasite control, hoof care and nutritional supplementation in addition to mental rehabilitation. If we have the housing space and the horse is qualified to become a part of our Guided Tour program, they can remain as permanent residents with us. Horses that fall short of the requirements will be fostered out, rehomed, or sent to any number of retirement pastures we are trying to gain access to. In the past, many many horses have been euthanized because there was simply no safe place for them to go. However, Cruzan Cowgirls will only consider euthanization for horses with seriously debilitating issues. In addition, we hope to begin educational campaigns within the community to raise awareness of proper horse care, training and nutrition. We also hope to set an example for the many horse owners on ST Croix, to show them a different way to approach horse ownership. We want to lead by example and improve the lives of as many horses as we can on this beautiful island. donations are accepted here:

Oh my lawd! Looking back at the very beginnings of when we started Cruzan Cowgirls! These boys are all growing up and having their own babies now. We can’t wait till they can all start coming to the new Horse School we have been working hard on since Covid hit and gave us some time to start building out a real farm facility! The new Horse School will be better than ever! Every day we have people stop by to see what we are building and express their excitement to bring their children when we finish up with creating safe spaces for kids and animals to learn from each other! But I gotta send a huge shout or to original crew! To the boys who inspired us to create a fun safe and educational space for animal loving kids! Special thanks to Erick, Nathaniel Hamilton, Emmanuel Ranks, Randy Rhymer, Marco Rhymer, Samira Marie, Jent Thomas, Junior Matthew, Grant, Angel, Jun Jun, Pressi, Shem Thomas, Rohan Watson, David Brewster, AJ Rivera, JaJa and to so many more and to those we’ve lost! RIP Wayne Anderson Jerome, Kalo King, Jovell, Teeth’s, and the others who we all miss! You are all my family and I’m so proud of all of you! Here are a few blast from the past pics y’all might enjoy! If I didn’t tag you, please forgive me…I could make this post a real mile long if I got all you in there!

If you see a horse in need please remember these pointers.
💟Do not feed the horse, horses are sensitive to change and can become seriously I'll if fed differently from their current diet.
💟Offer water
💟Take full body photos, including face
💟Safely look to see if male or female
💟Accurately record location
💟Do not cut free or untie
💟Report to us, the department of agricultural and the police
We try to offer owners assistance in anyway we can if they are willing.

Nightcrawler and Bonsai received their mani/pedis and are looking so handsome.
The majority of our horses can remain barefoot however these boys have sensitive hooves and need extra care that we are happy to provide.
