Today, we honor Indigenous peoples around the world—their cultures, traditions, ancestral knowledge, resilience, and enduring connection to their lands.

We stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities in their pursuit of dignity, equality, justice, self-determination, and the right to return to their ancestral homes and lands.

Respect. Recognize. Elevate.
Together, we stand for a world where every Indigenous people can live with dignity, preserve their identity, and return home.

نكرّم اليوم الشعوب الأصلية حول العالم، ونحتفي بثقافاتهم وتقاليدهم وحكمتهم العريقة وارتباطهم العميق بأراضيهم.

نقف تضامنًا مع الشعوب الأصلية من أجل الكرامة والمساواة والعدالة وحق تقرير المصير وحق العودة إلى أوطانهم وأراضيهم الأصلية.

Happy Independence Day!

Today we celebrate the ideals upon which the United States was founded—liberty, justice, equality, and the pursuit of happiness. Our nation is at its best when we honor these principles not only for ourselves, but for people everywhere.

As a true melting pot of cultures, America is strengthened by the diversity of its people and by the friendships we build across communities. Here in the U.S. Virgin Islands, we are proud of the respect, understanding, and solidarity shared between our Virgin Islands and Palestinian communities.

May we continue to work toward a world where every person is treated with dignity, where differences are embraced, and where freedom, peace, and opportunity are within reach for all.

I had put up a graphic with incorrect information this morning and I wholeheartedly apologize.

 The Emancipation Revolt took place on July 3, 1848 and was led by Moses “General Buddhoe” Gottlieb and April Martin King.  while the enslaved people were emancipated that day the conditions they were forced to lived in was so horrendous another revolt took place October 1, 1878 led by the three queens.

Today, we honor Juneteenth—the day when news of freedom finally reached the last enslaved Africans in Texas, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued and after the Civil War had ended.

As we celebrate this historic milestone in the struggle for freedom and equality, we also recognize that the pursuit of justice is ongoing. The Virgin Islands Palestinian Friendship Association stands in solidarity with all people seeking equal rights, human dignity, and the fundamental right to self-determination.

May the spirit of Juneteenth inspire us to continue working toward a world where freedom and justice are enjoyed by all.
