Celebrating Indigenous Peoples’ Day and Virgin Islands–Puerto Rico Friendship Day!

Today, we honor Indigenous peoples around the world, celebrating their rich cultures, traditions, histories, and enduring contributions. From the Caribbean and the Americas to Africa, Asia, the Pacific, the Arctic, and Palestine, Indigenous communities share deep connections to their ancestral lands, a determination to preserve their heritage, and a continuing commitment to their peoples and future generations.

We also celebrate Virgin Islands–Puerto Rico Friendship Day, recognizing the longstanding bonds of friendship, shared history, cultural connections, and mutual respect between the people of the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

These observances remind us of the importance of honoring our roots, respecting the histories of others, celebrating our diversity, and strengthening the relationships that unite us across the Caribbean and around the world.

May we continue to stand together in support of cultural preservation, dignity, equality, and the right of all peoples to maintain their identities, protect their heritage, and shape their own futures.

Different lands. Diverse cultures. Shared humanity. A future built on friendship, respect, and solidarity.

International Day of the Girl Child | October 11

Every girl deserves a future filled with hope, opportunity, dignity, and freedom. 💗

Today, we stand in solidarity with girls everywhere, in the Virgin Islands, Palestine, and around the world, affirming that every girl has the right to be heard, to make decisions about her own life, to pursue her dreams, and to live free from violence, abuse, discrimination, and fear.

A girl’s future should never be limited by where she is born, the circumstances she faces, or the expectations others place upon her. Every girl deserves the opportunity to discover her potential and shape her own future.

The VI Palestinian Friendship Association believes that protecting girls means more than keeping them safe. It means empowering them with a voice, respecting their choices, and ensuring they have the freedom and opportunity to become all they can be.

Every girl deserves a choice. Every girl deserves a future. Every girl deserves to live free.

Whether you offer delicious food, handmade crafts, unique products, artwork, clothing, or other services, we’d be happy to have you share your talents and offerings with our community.

International Day of Peace

Today, the Virgin Islands Palestinian Friendship Association joins people around the world in reflecting on the importance of peace, compassion, and human dignity.

Every child has the right to grow up free from fear, violence, and devastation. Peace must belong to everyone, everywhere, every day.

Let us each do our part to build communities where understanding replaces division, hope replaces fear, and every person can live with dignity and security.
