🌞 Summer Camp 2026 Wrap-Up: Family Fun Day! 🌞

On Wednesday, July 22nd, we closed out another incredible summer camp with our CCBGVI Family Fun Day at the Frederiksted Center! From masquerading and drumming to the Rising Stars Steel Orchestra, three-leg races, face painting, a bounce house, and so much more β€” it was a day full of laughter, music, and community.

To our amazing staff β€” thank you for pouring your hearts into this summer and making every single day count for our children. πŸ’™

To our parents β€” thank you for trusting us with your children all summer long and for showing up to celebrate with us on Fun Day.

And to our children β€” you are the reason we do this. Watching you play, dance, and shine together is what it's all about. πŸŽ‰

Our Family Fun Day would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors and contributors:
πŸ™ St. Croix Foundation
πŸ™ Team Consultants
πŸ™ Rotary Club West
πŸ™ The Market
πŸ™ Quality Market
πŸ™ Plaza East
πŸ™ Stop & Shop
πŸ™ Cost-U-Less
πŸ™ Armstrong Ice Cream
πŸ™ Coca-Cola (CC1)

Thank you for believing in our children and our mission. Here's to a summer well spent β€” and we can't wait for what's next! 🌟

RECAP!!! 🎭During Freedom Week in early July, the Keeping Masquerade Traditions Alive troupes brought color, rhythm, and history to the Caribbean Centers for Boys & Girls of the Virgin Islands (CCBGVI) in Frederiksted, celebrating alongside the youth and staff as part of Virgin Islands Freedom Week!🎭

From the 1852 suppression of Christmas traditions to today's vibrant, creolized cultural expression, our masquerade heritage is a living story β€” and getting to share it directly with the young people at CCBGVI made this celebration even more special.

And thank you to our partners for supporting this work: St. Croix Foundation, Caribbean Centers for Boys & Girls of the Virgin Islands, and the Division of Virgin Islands Cultural Education (DVICE), and the St. Croix community.

From colonial suppression to community revival β€” 1852 to 1952 to 2026 β€” we'll continue to keep the culture alive, one generation at a time. πŸ’™

🍦 SWEET SURPRISE AT SUMMER CAMP! 🍦

You know it is a good day when Armstrong Ice Cream rolls up to the Christiansted CCBGVI Center! Our campers were all smiles as they got a special treat delivered right to them β€” because summer camp fun deserves a little extra sweetness.

Here's a photo dump of the sticky fingers, big grins, and pure ice cream joy from our summer campers. Nothing beats a cool treat on a hot St. Croix day! 🌴

"A heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our parents, guardians, and staff for making... βš“ Summer Camp Explores History at Fort Christian! βš“

Our CCBGVI Christiansted Center summer campers traded the classroom for a field trip to the Caribbean's oldest standing fort during the summer! The kids explored Fort Christian, one of the oldest colonial structures in the U.S. Virgin Islands, and learned about the rich history that shaped our island home.

From imagining what life was like centuries ago to asking great questions along the way, our young explorers left with a deeper appreciation for St. Croix's history and heritage. Field trips like these are all about keeping learning alive outside the classroom walls!

A big thank-you to our staff and chaperones who made this adventure possible! 🏰

Warning: what happened at the Christiansted CCBGVI Center may or may not still be oozing through the halls... πŸ‘€

Our young scientists went undercover for a top-secret mission: mixing, stretching, and testing the perfect batch of homemade slime! Between the giggles and the "ewww, cool!" reactions, our kids explored real science concepts like polymers, chemical reactions, and states of matter β€” all while getting delightfully messy.

Was it a science experiment or a slime monster in disguise? You be the judge. Scroll through to see the "evidence" for yourself! 🟒🧫

A big thank-you to our amazing staff and supporters who always make hands-on learning adventures like this possible!

🍞 Bread in a Bag = Big Smiles at CCBGVI! 🍞

Our kids at the Frederiksted CCBGVI Center rolled up their sleeves for a hands-on lesson in measuring, mixing, and kneading β€” and the result was a batch of fresh, homemade bread made entirely in a bag!

Beyond the delicious end result, activities like these help our young ones build math skills, patience, teamwork, and confidence in the kitchen. Watching their faces light up when the dough finally came together was the best part of the day.

Thank you to everyone who donated to support our programs and help make moments like these possible. Scroll through these photos to see our little bakers in action! πŸ‘©β€πŸ³πŸ‘¨β€πŸ³
