The tables turned at the St. Croix YC Sailing Association today during the Instructor Races as the kids took over coaching duties from the dock... and they definitely had opinions. 😂⛵

Things got off to a rough start for Max, who rolled tacked straight into a boat full of water. JJ held his own all morning, although he insists mysterious “boat troubles” were to blame for anything that didn’t go his way. 🤔

Parker dominated the first two races, only to be taken over in the final race by Head Instructor Claire after a “supposed” mark hit led to an immediate protest from JJ. The jury is still out on what really happened. 👀🚩

AJ and David sailed consistently all morning, while also getting plenty of practice with their bailing techniques. At one point, it seemed they were competing in a completely different event: synchronized boat-emptying. AJ even managed to lose his bailer mid-race, proving that sometimes the equipment gives up before the sailor does. 💦😂

Race Officer Aldamar managed to get through the entire regatta without once having to threaten a black flag, a true miracle considering the competitors involved. 👏🚩

Safe to say everyone had a blast, and the kids fully embraced their temporary roles as coaches, strategists, cheerleaders, and professional advice-yellers from the dock! 📣⛵

☀️ All smiles on Day 3 of Session 1!

Today our sailors- beginners, intermediates, and advanced went back to the basics and had a blast doing it. With moderate winds, everyone focused on building strong fundamentals. The advanced group sharpened their tacking techniques, while our beginners and intermediates dove into points of sail and wind direction during their after-lunch chalk talk before hitting the water.

The best part? Everyone is out sailing and having a great time!

⛵ We still have space left in our summer sessions- it’s not too late to join the fun!
