There is graduate student from the states here exploring the guts. Here are some of the freshwater species he is finding over in St. Croix.

We have the same species here in St. Thomas and can be found on the guide. I hope to share more of what he's finding. We plan on teaming up in January here in St. Thomas to see what we find 🔍🐟🦐

How It Started

Since starting in the Masters in Marine and Environmental Science Program at the University of the Virgin Islands, the Guts have been my research focus. It has taken many years to teach myself about the ecology of tropical freshwater streams and the species that call these habitats home. I have made it my goal to share my experiences and knowledge about gut ecosystems in St. Thomas. I hope that I can encourage more people to learn more about what rare wildlife we have on the island and what we can do to preserve it for years to come. And yes we do have freshwater fish and shrimp on and island with no rivers. Get lost. Take a hike. Explore the Gut. It is quiet an amazing experience! Thank you for all of the love and support.
