St. Thomas Recovery Team

Mission Statement

Our mission is to coordinate our long-term recovery response, resource management, resiliency planning, and training in response to hurricanes Irma and Maria. Four main tenants of the group are cooperation, communication, coordination, and collaboration. The STRT will also take measures of sustainability to have a plan of action for future disasters. This group will assess the unmet needs of the people go the Virgin Islands and will be provide spiritual, physical, financial, and emotional support as able to facilitate rehabilitation. Our team is divided into Committees, each focusing on a critical issue within the greater recovery and rebuilding effort. The STRT’s objectives are as follows:

Objective Statement

To provide safe, secure, sanitary dwellings for vulnerable members of the community

To Facilitate gainful employment and economic recovery for members of the community

To reduce duplication of efforts and waste among volunteer agencies and community partners during recovery

To facilitate formulation of NGO disaster and crisis plan management
