Friday, October 23, is World Polio Day. The Rotary Clubs of USVI North invite you to join us at Taphus B**r House in St. Thomas at 6:00 p.m. for Pints for Polio, an evening of good company, cold drinks, and karaoke with prizes.

Every pint and every song supports PolioPlus, Rotary's decades-long effort to wipe polio off the face of the earth. We're closer than ever, and every bit counts.

What if your favorite hobby could become your career?

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dwayne Isaac and his brother Dwight left their 9-to-5 jobs to build the Virgin Islands Video Game Network around something they loved: gaming.

Join us on Tuesday, October 20, for Session 02 of the Interact Leadership Academy, From Passion to Profit. Dwayne will share what starting a business really takes, from creativity and calculated risk to building a brand and pushing through setbacks.

This free virtual workshop covers what funders expect before they invest.

September is Basic Education and Literacy Month, and we're spending it talking about how we read, and why.

Last week, Major Migdalia of the Salvation Army shared the goals and challenges of their literacy program. When she asks kids how many were read to growing up, fewer than half raise their hands. 😓

This week, we continue the conversation with Tiphanie Yanique, award-winning Virgin Islands author and co-editor of Virgin Islands Noir. We'll dig into literacy at home: our libraries, access to books, socioeconomic challenges, and the rich literary culture, from calypso to folk poetics, that we already have but rarely teach.
