Parents and caregivers across the U.S. Virgin Islands — CFVI’s ParentPowered program is here to support you and your child’s learning journey from birth through 12th grade, right from your phone.

This FREE text-based family engagement program sends simple, research-based tips and activities each week designed to support your child’s growth, learning, and development through everyday routines — no special supplies needed.

Each week, caregivers receive 3 short text messages with easy learning ideas and conversation starters and additional messages connecting families with helpful community resources

Since launching in the USVI, ParentPowered has supported the families of more than 600 children. According to ParentPowered’s report, parents say the program helps them stay connected with weekly learning strategies, better understand their children’s feelings and behaviors, and support their child’s growth and academic success.

Getting started is easy! Text CFVI to 70138 to enroll today.

From the Virgin Islands to Space Camp!

Last month, the historic Artemis II mission inspired millions around the world as it prepared to send the first woman and first person of color to the Moon. That inspiration reached our shores, too.

Thanks to the generosity of RapierMed, LLC and the Kym’s Kids Caribbean Agency Fund at CFVI, three outstanding Virgin Islands students have been awarded full scholarships to attend Space Camp 2026 at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama.

Congratulations to Shivam, Jemmisha, and Jaden! These exceptional students will blast off next month for an unforgettable experience in science, technology, engineering, and space exploration.

We are proud to support opportunities that encourage Virgin Islands youth to dream big, explore new possibilities, and reach for the stars. Join us in wishing them luck on their journey!

We are proud to announce Adaina Smith, a recent graduate of the St. Croix Educational Complex High School, as the inaugural recipient of the Rashida A. Hodge Scholarship. This is a transformative educational opportunity that will cover the full cost of attendance at North Carolina State University for up to four years. Adaina will be pursuing her degree in Business Administration.

Established through a $1 million endowment from Microsoft executive, philanthropist and CFVI Board Member Rashida Hodge, the scholarship is designed to expand access to higher education for students from the Virgin Islands while creating lasting pathways to success through both financial support and mentorship.

As the first recipient, Adaina will begin her journey at NC State this summer, where she plans to study Business Administration on the pre-law track with aspirations of becoming an attorney.

On Saturday, Adaina and Rashida celebrated together, surrounded by family, CFVI board members, and staff to honor Adaina’s achievement.

Congratulations, Adaina! We look forward to seeing all that you accomplish and are grateful to Rashida for investing in the next generation of Virgin Islands leaders.

Virgin Islands History Month may be over, but the conversation continues.

CFVI’s first-ever Voices of the VI Humanities Conference reminded us that preserving our history, culture, and stories is ongoing work that requires all of us across generations. Hosted at the University of the Virgin Islands as part of By the People: Conversations Beyond 250, the conference created meaningful space for intergenerational dialogue, community collaboration, and reflection on who we are and how we carry our heritage forward.

As the Humanities Council of the Virgin Islands, CFVI is proud to help amplify Virgin Islands voices and foster conversations from our artists, scholars, educators, and community leaders. The humanities connects us through storytelling, culture, and community. Read more about the conference and its impact: https://ow.ly/6lrb50Z1G68
