Don't miss our first meeting as one society. Zion Genealogical Society and Lake County IL Genealogical Society. Help us celebrate "America 250"
Our first program as the merged Lake County IL and Zion Genealogical Societies will be July 9, 2026, 7:00 to 8:30 pm. Joel Farkas will present " 'Painting' the American Revolution" at the Cook Park Library, 4123 N. Milwaukee Ave, Libertyville.
See the Revolution through the eyes of the artists who chronicled our nation's founding. Learn about the importance of fine arts (paintings, poems, portraits, sculptures, music, and more) during the American Revolution and how they help define our nation today. Plus, find out what "macaroni" really means in the song "Yankee Doodle".
We are co-hosting this hybrid event with the Cook Memorial Public Library District. It will also be available through Zoom.
Joel is a graduate of Ohio State University, served as an officer in the U.S. Army, and was a National Park Service volunteer docent at Washington's Headquarters, Morristown, NJ. He received the National Park Service Centennial Volunteer Challenge Award. He collects original historical autographs and is an enrichment lecturer for American Cruise Lines.
